VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) learned from foreign media that on May 10 (UK time), healthcare technology company Closed Loop Medicine completed a £2.1 million Series A financing round. The funds will be used to support the expansion of its online medical platform, enabling real-time monitoring of patients’ health conditions and assisting them in taking medications scientifically.

It is reported that this round of financing was jointly invested by Longwall Venture Partners, IQ Capital, and Martlet.

Closed Loop Medicine, founded in 2017 and headquartered in London, UK, is a medical technology company dedicated to the research and development of novel technologies. It focuses on providing personalized diagnosis and treatment plans for patients, enhancing therapeutic efficiency, and facilitating their speedy recovery.

Generally, after making a diagnosis of a patient’s condition, medical institutions prescribe a list of relevant medications and instruct the patient to adhere to the prescribed regimen, thereby concluding the treatment phase. However, patients vary in their tolerance to medications and in the extent to which drug effects influence their clinical conditions. Physicians are unable to continuously monitor patients’ medication adherence and adjust treatment plans accordingly. This may lead to issues such as medication waste and suboptimal therapeutic efficacy.

Closed Loop Medicine has launched a novel healthcare model integrating digital solutions, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, aiming to enhance the precision and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment. Patients can purchase monitoring devices from the company’s official website and register for a private account. After a physician prescribes a medication list, patients can upload their medication or clinical data. The platform then customizes personalized treatment plans based on this information, helping patients adhere to scientifically guided medication regimens.

Furthermore, monitoring devices can detect physiological parameters such as the patient’s heart rate and blood pressure. Once medication impacts the condition, the platform automatically updates the treatment regimen by reducing the dosage of certain drugs or introducing new medications. In cases where the condition deteriorates or becomes uncontrolled, the platform alerts the patient to seek timely medical attention.

Currently, the company’s medical scope includes sleep disorders, hypertension, chronic pain, and diabetes.

Dr. Hakim Yadi Obe, CEO of Closed Loop Medicine, stated, “We are deeply grateful to the new round of investors for their support. We plan to utilize the funds from this financing round to expand our business operations and broaden the scope of our medical services, while continuously enhancing our electronic devices to better serve patients.”

David Denny, Founder of Longwall Venture Partners, stated, “We are eager to collaborate with Closed Loop Medicine to jointly promote a new model of healthcare delivery. Currently, shortages in medical resources compromise the scientific rigor and continuity of diagnosis, preventing patients from receiving optimal care. We aim to leverage advancements in medical technology to allocate medical resources more rationally, enabling patients to recover their health sooner.”
