Industry Leaders Convene in Hangzhou to Chart the Future of Biomedicine

The pharmaceutical industry is a strategic emerging industry that China prioritizes for cultivation. Pharmaceutical enterprises in Zhejiang Province adhere to innovation-led development, increase R&D investment, and enhance their core competitiveness.2017In the year, the province's pharmaceutical industry achieved an output value of new products580.5billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of20.8%, accounting for a share of the industry's total output value40.6%, innovative achievements are gradually becoming evident.

At the conference, renowned academicians and experts from across China gathered to share insights on industrial upgrading and policy development. They engaged in in-depth discussions on how the pharmaceutical industry can strategically position itself within the broader health sector, leverage industry-academia-research collaborations to stimulate endogenous growth drivers, promote leapfrog development of Zhejiang Province’s biopharmaceutical industry, build its pharmaceutical brand, establish a highland for the health industry, and guide the healthy development of the biopharmaceutical sector.

At this meeting, the Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Food and Drug Administration Chen Kui, Director of the Development Service Center of Hangzhou Medical Port Town Tao Feng, Vice President of the Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Association, Chairman of the Big Health Committee, and Chairman of Hangzhou Minsheng Pharmaceutical Holding Group Co., Ltd. Under the joint witness of leaders including Zhu Fujiang, the unveiling ceremony for the establishment of the “Biopharmaceutical Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Health Industry Federation” was held. Chen Haibin, Chairman of the Zhejiang Health Industry Federation and Chairman of Dian Diagnostics, together with Lv Liang, General Manager of Huadong Medicine Co., Ltd., the chair unit of the Special Committee, jointly unveiled the plaque. They also presented plaques to representatives of the vice-chair units, including the Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Int’l Group Co., Ltd. Wu Minying, Executive Vice President of Zhejiang Shapuaisi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Chen Weiping, Deputy Director of the Biopharmaceutical Industrialization Center at Zhejiang Tsinghua Yangtze Delta Region Institute and General Manager of Huayuan Sci-Tech Innovation Mou Hang, Chairman of Zhejiang Huabei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Qian Wangke issued appointment letters to the special committee members.

The establishment of the special committee has provided more professional guidance for Zhejiang Province’s biopharmaceutical industry in its future layout of the broader health sector and in achieving leapfrog development.

Chairman of the Special Committee, General Manager of Huadong Medicine Lu Liang expressed his sincere gratitude to the government officials, experts, and colleagues for their support. Qian Wangke went on stage together to sign the agreement, “Shenyang Pharmaceutical University-"Huadong Medicine New Drug Project", "Huadong Medicine-Two collaborative initiatives, including the “Huabei Pharmaceutical Strategic Partnership,” were finalized at the conference. The signing of this strategic partnership holds significant importance for fostering industry-academia-research collaboration, promoting industrial integration, and facilitating the exchange and translation of technological advancements.
