UZURV Secures $5M Series A Funding to Expand Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Platform Ahead of IPO

(UZURV), a company specializing in non-emergency medical transportation, announced the completion of its $5 million Series A financing round. This round was led by Henry Engelhardt, former CEO of the Welsh auto insurer Admiral Group, and his wife, Diane Briere de l'isle-Engelhardt.

These funds will be used to accelerate the development of the UZURV mobile platform, helping to reduce operational costs and improve access to safe transportation.

UZURV was founded in May 2017 in the Richmond area of Virginia, USA. The company focuses on the non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) market and has developed a mobile platform that provides transportation services for the elderly, people with disabilities, and individuals with mental health needs.

The UZURV mobile platform offers three primary transportation options: first, its own Transportation Network Company (TNC) featuring vetted and certified drivers; second, integration with Lyft, the second-largest ride-hailing app in the United States; and third, integration with Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) providers.

UZURV’s transportation services comply with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Furthermore, UZURV provides door-to-door service and en-route care for passengers, addressing each individual’s specific needs in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.

UZURV partners with transit agencies, managed care organizations, and the American Cancer Society to provide transportation services for their members and community residents. Since signing its first contract with the GRTC Transit System in June 2017, UZURV has expanded its services to 25 states across the United States.

Henry Engelhardt is an American businessman. Born in Chicago on January 17, 1958, he holds a joint degree in Journalism, Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Michigan. Additionally, he pursued an MBA at INSEAD.

Henry Engelhardt founded the auto insurance company Admiral Group in Wales, UK, in 1993 and served as its Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Admiral Group grew to become “one of the most valuable companies in the UK.” In 2016, Henry Engelhardt stepped down as CEO of Admiral Group.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is a transportation service provided for individuals. These target users are not in emergency situations, but the services offered by taxis cannot meet their needs.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) service providers offer wheelchairs, stretchers, or other special services to passengers requiring transport. Some Medicaid agencies will pay for NEMT services. In cases where Medicaid does not provide coverage, certain state and local programs, Area Agencies on Aging, and hospital systems will fund NEMT transportation.
