On May 17, 2019, the first-round review meeting of the “Wu Jieping Medical Foundation–Bioray Advanced Excellence in Surgery Special Fund” was grandly held during the “12th Annual Conference of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association’s Surgeon Branch.” As the first special fund project in the field of surgery in China, this fund primarily supports research on the clinical application of biodegradable biomaterials in surgical repair, while also supporting surgeons engaged in clinical scientific research to participate in academic exchanges, education and training, and clinical research activities.

The initial startup fund reached RMB 2 million. In 2019, the program planned to support 40 clinical surgical research projects, with each project receiving a grant of RMB 50,000 over a two-year funding period. To date, a total of 40 research project applications have been received. Following preliminary review, 21 projects advanced to the first round of evaluation. At this review meeting, roadshows and evaluations were conducted for 12 of these projects.
