Private equity firm Apposite Capital provided financing for the transaction, although the specific deal amount was not disclosed. This acquisition will expand Swanton Care’s operations in Wales and further strengthen its online service offerings.
GRS Care, established in 2003, provides living and home care services to the elderly and people with disabilities in South West Wales, enjoying a strong local reputation. The company delivers over 2,000 hours of care to patients each week. Upon completion of the acquisition, Swanton Care will acquire all of GRS Care’s operations and clients in South West Wales.
Swanton Care was established in Coventry, UK, in 2006. It is a company dedicated to providing specialized residential and supported living services for adults with complex learning disabilities, mental health conditions, autism, and acquired brain injuries. The company is part of Apposite Capital’s portfolio. Swanton Care operates 24 specialist residential care facilities across East Anglia, the West Midlands, Scotland, South West Wales, and the North East of England, offering a total of 259 beds. The company employs approximately 780 staff and reported revenues of £25 million in 2018.
Anne-Laure Meynier of Apposite Capital led the acquisition, stating, “Swanton Care aims to become the UK’s leading care provider. This acquisition will complement Swanton Care’s existing operations and expand its footprint in Wales.”
It is understood that Swanton Care acquired the specialized pediatric care provider Courtyard Care in January 2019.
