Healthcare system reform is a key task in the comprehensive deepening of reforms. On May 30, the National Health Commission issued a notice announcing the establishment of the Third Expert Advisory Committee of the State Council’s Leading Group for Deepening Healthcare System Reform.
According to the notice, the Advisory Committee is composed of experts in fields related to medicine and public health, with a term of office from 2019 to 2022. The administrative office is located within the Secretariat of the State Council Leading Group for Healthcare Reform and is responsible for day-to-day operations.
The main responsibilities of the Expert Advisory Committee are: to provide consultative and advisory opinions on major development plans and important documents related to healthcare system reform; to conduct research and investigations into key, difficult, and high-profile issues in the reform process, as well as emerging situations and problems; to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of healthcare reform initiatives; to study and analyze international practices and lessons learned from healthcare system reforms abroad, and to propose recommendations for drawing on international experience in China’s own reform efforts; to interpret and publicize healthcare reform policies to the general public in accordance with work arrangements; and to undertake other important matters entrusted by the State Council Leading Group for Healthcare System Reform and its Secretariat.
