Dr. Dou Jinhui holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Mississippi and has earned widespread acclaim across industry, regulatory, and academic sectors. He previously served as Deputy Director of the Research Institute at Yiling Pharmaceutical. Prior to that, he was a Senior Expert in Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he led the Botanical Drug Review Team within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). During his tenure at the FDA from 2002 to 2017, Dr. Dou received the CDER Team Excellence Award six times, the FDA Team Honor Award once, and the Superior Service Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services once. Dr. Dou has also served as a Senior Scientist in Natural Product Development at NaPro BioTherapeutics, a Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas, and a Lecturer in Chinese Materia Medica Identification at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.


During his tenure at the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Dr. Dou contributed to the development of industry guidance and regulations concerning dietary supplements, botanical drug development, complementary and alternative medicines, and combination or co-packaged pharmaceutical products. As a senior reviewer in pharmacognosy and pharmacology/toxicology, he participated in the review and approval of multiple New Drug Applications (NDAs) for botanical and chemical drugs, as well as over five hundred Investigational New Drug (IND) applications for clinical trials. Dr. Dou also engaged in the safety and quality assessment of various Section 503A compounded medications, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, drug-device combination products, and dietary supplements.
