Taicang, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Suzhou, borders the Yangtze River—known as the “Golden Waterway”—to the east and neighbors the international metropolis of Shanghai to the south. It derives its name “Taicang” (meaning “Grand Granary”) from the granaries built by the King of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period to store grain, earning it the renowned reputation as the “Splendid Jiangnan’s Golden Taicang.” Taicang has consistently ranked among the top ten of China’s Top 100 Counties (County-level Cities) in terms of comprehensive strength. Its key focuses and most prominent highlights for deepening opening-up are encapsulated in three strategic initiatives: strengthening the city through its port, integrating with Shanghai, and cooperating with Germany. More than 20 Fortune Global 500 companies have established operations here, and nearly 300 German-funded enterprises have clustered in Taicang, showcasing distinctive strengths in specialization, refinement, differentiation, and innovation, thereby earning Taicang the title of “Home of German Enterprises in China.” Taicang has been recognized as an Advanced City in National Scientific and Technological Progress and one of the Most Investment-Worthy Counties (County-level Cities) in the Yangtze River Delta. It is also the only county-level city in Jiangsu Province to have received the national “Chang’an Cup,” and it has been listed among the “Happiest Cities in China” for four consecutive years, ultimately winning the “Gold Award for the Happiest City in China.”

2019 The 2nd “Chuangying Taicang” Global Entrepreneurship Competition aims to promote Taicang’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, deeply implement the “20-Point New Talent Policy,” attract global talent with an inclusive approach, stimulate entrepreneurial vitality among professionals, leverage the supporting and leading role of high-level talents, build a high-end platform for innovation and entrepreneurship for overseas high-level talents, and attract outstanding individuals and projects to settle and develop in Taicang.
