Smart Wearable Device Provider
VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media that U.S. medical technology company Arc Devices recently completed a $5 million financing round led by Avnet. The funds will be used to support the development of smart medical wearable devices for real-time health monitoring and to enhance its medical data platform.
Arc Devices, headquartered in Florida, USA, is a medical technology company dedicated to developing biosensing devices for real-time monitoring of patient health.
Arc Devices’ flagship products are wearable smart medical devices. These devices collect user health information through skin sensors during simple daily wear and provide immediate feedback on whether professional medical consultation is needed. Wearable smart medical devices are not only portable and easy to use but also enable continuous health monitoring, thereby reducing the costs associated with visiting healthcare facilities and improving the diagnostic and treatment efficiency of medical institutions. These devices are made from biocompatible materials that do not cause adverse effects to the wearer or trigger allergic reactions due to individual physiological differences.
Arc Devices’ first-generation smart monitoring product, scheduled for launch in mid-2019, is a handheld multi-vital-sign device capable of simultaneously measuring six vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate variability, blood oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and body temperature. This handheld device can detect various physiological abnormalities and promptly alert patients to seek medical attention at healthcare facilities. Additionally, purchasers of the product will receive a complimentary non-invasive glucose monitor and finger clip from the company. These accessories allow users to separate glucose testing data from other monitoring charts, facilitating data review for users with specific glucose management needs.
Arc Devices has also developed a remote monitoring platform capable of integrating and analyzing data uploaded from its devices. User-held devices automatically connect to this platform, uploading health data in real time. When patients seek diagnosis at healthcare institutions, medical professionals can directly access their medical records and leverage the platform’s integrated database to rapidly analyze treatment protocols for such conditions, thereby facilitating evidence-based clinical decision-making.
Mark Terrill, CEO of Arc Devices, stated, “We are deeply grateful for the support from our new investors. We will leverage the funds from this round to further develop our business operations and research and develop new medical monitoring devices. Through collaboration with our new investors, we aim to jointly expand the smart wearable medical market and create new value for our shareholders.”
Charles Avnet, founder of Avnet, stated, “We are highly optimistic about the growth prospects of Arc Devices. Medical monitoring devices represent the next key focus for industry development, and Arc Devices is a leader in this field. We look forward to collaborating with the company to support the research and development of its health monitoring devices and to facilitate its market expansion.”
