Multiple panelists noted that clinical targets, due to their relatively clear biological mechanisms and well-defined clinical endpoints, possess inherent advantages in early validation and development timelines, aiding in achieving faster value realization in an increasingly uncertain environment. However, multinational pharmaceutical companies are also increasingly pivoting towards FIC targets, emphasizing the completeness and innovation of mechanistic narratives. Some panelists stressed that "smarter deals" do not simply mean lower costs but achieving a dynamic balance between R&D efficiency and capital efficiency through risk stratification, regional segmentation, and milestone design at the appropriate stages. Additionally, some panelists shared cross-regional collaboration experiences, suggesting that conducting early clinical trials and data validation in regions with higher execution efficiency before connecting with global resources is a crucial pathway for accelerating peripheral targets toward internationalization.
