Fertility Test Kit and Related Service Provider
Venture Capital Firms
VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that women’s health company Modern Fertility announced on June 11 the completion of a $15 million Series A financing round, led by Forerunner Ventures.
Modern Fertility will leverage this funding to advance fertility science research, develop new reproductive health products, raise women’s awareness of personal health, and provide them with more comprehensive health services.
With the completion of the transaction, Kirsten Green joined the board of directors of Modern Fertility. Over the past decade, the exceptional team led by Green has successfully built influential consumer brands such as Glossier, Outdoor Voices, Away, Warby Parker, and Dollar Shave Club.
It is reported that Modern Fertility previously completed seed funding rounds of $1 million in August 2017 and $6 million in May 2018, with investors including Maveron, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Box Group, #Angels, and Y Combinator. To date, the company has raised a total of $22 million in financing.
Modern Fertility provides women with personalized reproductive health testing, including anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) assays—which reliably and rapidly assess ovarian reserve by quantifying the number of antral follicles in the ovaries, thereby evaluating female fertility potential and predicting the onset of menopause—and delivers comprehensive reports explaining the relationships between hormone levels and ovarian reserve, oocyte cryopreservation, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and menopause.
Through Modern Fertility, women planning to conceive can undergo fertility hormone testing at home or at a nearby laboratory. These tests are identical to those offered in clinical settings but come at a lower cost. Users can download corresponding reports and guidelines to facilitate discussions with their physicians. Additionally, they can access one-on-one consultations with fertility nurses and attend weekly “Egginar” webinars for further support.
Modern Fertility’s understanding of modern women’s needs and reproductive science empowers women to truly understand their bodies and make informed fertility decisions.
In addition to enhancing reproductive health services, Modern Fertility is also increasing its investment in clinical research. The research focuses on uncovering the needs of women and their partners to identify more appropriate fertility prediction parameters. The fertile population represents a demographically understudied segment within reactive healthcare systems. By studying this population, the company can improve current preconception care services. In the coming years, Modern Fertility will introduce better fertility indicators into its products, impacting women worldwide and driving the fertility health industry forward.
Carly Leahy, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Modern Fertility, stated, “As a brand builder and student of consumer behavior, I hold Kirsten and her team at Forerunner Ventures in high regard. Building fertility health brands beyond the realms of beauty, fitness, travel, and personal care marks a significant milestone for women’s health.”
