2019 Smart Healthcare Innovation Competition Final Successfully Concluded in Nanchang on June 15
On June 14, initiated by the Joint Laboratory of Mobile Medical Education and China Mobile, and co-organized by more than ten provincial and municipal associations, societies, and alliances related to healthcare informatization,“2019 Smart Healthcare Innovation Competition Grand Finals”The competition kicked off in Nanchang. Hosted by Jiangxi Provincial Children’s Hospital and Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, the opening ceremony was attended by representatives from over 400 participating teams, heads of co-organizing entities from various provinces and municipalities, as well as more than 60 industry leaders, experts, and judges.

As an industry-led competition targeted at professionals in healthcare information technology and applications, the Smart Healthcare Innovation Competition has been successfully held for two editions since 2017. It has garnered support and recognition from peer institutions in more than ten provinces and municipalities, including Hunan, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Chongqing. The competition has received a total ofNearly 300 innovation teams from over 20 provinces and cities across China participated in the evaluation and exchange., through provincial and municipal finals, recommendations from academic societies, and other methods, a total of100 Innovative Projects and Teams Participate in the Grand Finals。
Professor Hu Jianzhong Presides Over the Opening Ceremony
Professor Hu Jianzhong, head of the competition organizing committee, presided over the opening ceremony. On behalf of the committee, he expressed gratitude to the joint organizers from various provinces and municipalities for their diligent efforts in ensuring the successful convening of the competition, and thanked all experts and representatives for their support and assistance.
Zhu Liebin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Jiangxi Provincial Health Commission, delivered the welcome address. Lei Guanghua, President of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University; Chen Xiang, Vice President of Central South University; Chen Yubing, Deputy Director of the Information Professional Committee of the Chinese Hospital Association and Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University; and Hu Jianping, Deputy Director of the Statistical Information Center of the National Health Commission, attended the opening ceremony. The leaders and experts extended their congratulations on the successful convening of the competition and expressed earnest expectations for its sustained development. They expressed hope that the competition would adhere to the working principles of openness, service, and innovation, summarize experiences and achievements, continue to foster a fair and impartial competitive environment, jointly build an innovative ecosystem for smart healthcare, and contribute to the Healthy China initiative.
Deputy Director Hu Jianping Delivers Keynote Address
Hu Jianping, Deputy Director of the Statistical Information Center of the National Health Commission, welcomed outstanding teams to deliver presentations at the upcoming “China Health Information Technology Exchange Conference,” aiming to promote the innovative application of health information and healthcare big data at all levels across China. At the “Smart Healthcare Innovation Expert Forum,” Deputy Director Hu delivered a keynote address, providing an in-depth analysis of the progress made in China’s “National Health Informatization” initiative and outlining future directions. He emphasized that strengthening top-level design and advancing high-quality national health informatization are fundamental to serving the health of the general public.
Secretary Fu Chao Presides over the Smart Healthcare Innovation Expert Forum
The Expert Forum was moderated by Fu Chao, Party Secretary and Vice President of Jiangxi Provincial Children's Hospital. The forum featured presentations by Dr. Xu Liqun, Chief Scientist at China Mobile Research Institute; Chen Huaxin, Senior Researcher at the Planning and Information Division of the Jiangxi Provincial Health Commission; Professor Zhou Weihua from the University of Southern Mississippi; Liu Liyu, CEO of Life Singularity; and Chen Liang, ECM Expert at Dell. They delivered talks on 5G and the Future of Healthcare, Construction and Planning of National Health Informatics, Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Diagnosis, Healthcare Big Data Platforms, Frontier Technologies in Deep Learning and Big Data, and Developments and Reflections on Planning and Clinical Applications.
The competition site was divided into four categories for evaluation: Internet+, Information Management+, AI+Clinical, and Internet of Things+. Representatives from the top 100 innovative teams nationwide presented their projects’ innovation journeys and development concepts, covering aspects such as team building, project origins, technical and strategic roadmaps, innovations, and significance for promotion and adoption. The presentations underwent rigorous multi-dimensional review by over 60 experts in informatization leadership, management, technology, and investment, witnessed by more than 400 experts at various levels and participating teams. On-site winners were selected for the national First, Second, and Third Prizes, as well as special awards including Best Organization Award, Most Popular Award, Most Innovative Leadership Award, Best Originality Award, and Best Application Practice Award, with certificates presented on the spot.
