The round was led by Felicis Ventures, with participation from prominent firms Civilization Ventures and Bold Capital Partners, as well as angel investors Mostafa Ronaghi and Robert Nelsen. According to Gali Health, the funds will be used to accelerate the development of the Gali Intelligent Health Assistant and advance research and development in precision medicine.
Gali Health leverages artificial intelligence and medical expertise to process personal health data, providing personalized informational support across the medical, lifestyle, and psychological domains for patients with chronic diseases, thereby advancing the development of precision medicine. Gali Health has developed the Gali Smart Health Assistant app, which utilizes personal health information and integrated AI to empower patients with chronic conditions to proactively manage their health. The Gali Smart Health Assistant is currently available for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including those with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Gali Health reported that during the restricted access program implemented in spring 2019, patients with inflammatory bowel disease who trialed the Gali Smart Health Assistant provided extensive feedback on their experiences, all of which has been successfully addressed. The company plans to officially launch the Gali Smart Health Assistant in fall 2019. Gali Health stated that expanding its user base will enable Gali to achieve rapid growth with the support of more members within the inflammatory bowel disease community.
Gali Health is inviting new users to join the Gali community in phases through a waitlist on its website. The waitlist is open to all patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). “Our health ambassadors were the first to use Gali regularly, providing us with valuable insights into the personal health experiences of IBD patients. They helped us validate our approach and refine the app’s user experience,” said Ilya Kupershmidt, CEO and founder of Gali Health.
“I am incredibly proud and delighted to see my ideas and feedback implemented in the Gali Smart Health Assistant app. Each design iteration brings further feedback and an enhanced user experience. It is an honor to help develop a platform built by patients, for patients,” said Molly Dunham-Friel, Gali Health Ambassador and Patient Advocate.
