VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that medical technology company DotLab recently completed a $10 million Series A financing round. The round was led by CooperSurgical, with participation from Tiger Global Management, Luxor Capital Group, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

CooperSurgical plans to use the funds for clinical validation of its products, market expansion, and team growth.

DotLab, founded in 2016 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, is a medical technology company led by CEO Heather Bowerman. The company is dedicated to providing personalized healthcare services for women.

DotLab has developed a testing technology, also named DotLab. This non-invasive approach combines novel biomarkers with machine learning techniques to accurately detect endometriosis. The company has collaborated with researchers at Yale University, conducting laparoscopies on both endometriosis patients and healthy individuals across multiple clinical cohorts to evaluate the performance of the DotLab test.

DotLab’s official website states that currently, 1.76 billion women worldwide are affected by endometriosis. This condition is a leading cause of female infertility and ectopic pregnancy.

Early diagnosis and prevention can delay the progression of endometriosis and increase the chances of pregnancy. Endometriosis is a complex, heterogeneous disease with varying symptom presentations among different patients. Consequently, for over a century, the medical community has failed to develop a standard method for detecting this condition. DotLab is the world’s first non-invasive technology capable of accurately detecting endometriosis.

DotLab provides symptom information to patients with endometriosis by evaluating disease-specific biomarkers present in bodily fluids (such as blood or saliva), thereby enabling accurate diagnosis of endometriosis. These biomarkers can be tested repeatedly, helping physicians monitor treatment efficacy and prevent disease recurrence.
