A provider of healthcare engagement, clinical support, advocacy, and 24/7 telehealth solutions.
On July 1, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that healthcare company Carenet Health announced the acquisition of Citra Health Solutions’ telehealth subsidiary. The specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This transaction is expected to support Carenet’s telehealth and virtual care businesses. Reportedly, this marks Carenet’s second acquisition within seven months.
Carenet Health was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The company’s mission is to drive the development of the healthcare industry through its proprietary Intelligent Engagement™ approach. Carenet’s specialized solutions span consumer engagement, telehealth, clinical support, and health navigation. Currently, Carenet’s healthcare team serves more than 65 million healthcare consumers.
Following the completion of this acquisition, Carenet will become one of the largest telehealth companies in the United States. By partnering with leading U.S. health plan administrators and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), Carenet will further expand and strengthen its presence in the healthcare payer and health system markets. Carenet combines nurse advice with physician e-consultations to offer the industry’s only integrated virtual clinic service, providing patients with a seamless and highly cost-effective care experience.
John Erwin, CEO of Carenet Health, stated, “Telemedicine has no time constraints; whether day or night, as long as patients have needs, physicians will provide them with appropriate care plans. Due to the sharp rise in emergency room visits and other healthcare costs, we are seeking more industry partners to help them recognize that telemedicine will become a vital component of their 2020 development strategies.”
Mick Mazour, President of Carenet Health, stated that the maturation of the healthcare industry has had a significant impact on telemedicine. “We live in an ever-changing world. Whether you are a consumer or a provider, the growing demand for improved healthcare experiences equates to increased demand for virtual care.”
“Carenet is renowned in the telehealth sector, and our company is dedicated to supporting the acquisition and integration of Carenet. We recognize that partnering with Carenet Health signifies our company’s transformation into the healthcare industry,” said Scott Sanner, CEO of Citra Health Solutions.
