Executive Evaluation

"Abbott is committed to advancing transformative therapies in the field of cardiac rhythm management. From Abbott's revolutionary AVEIR leadless pacemaker, to the progress in conduction system pacing (CSP) technology, to the potential of the next-generation EV-ICD today, Abbott is redefining the possibilities for improving patient care on a global scale."

---Randel Woodgrift  Senior Vice President of Abbott's Cardiac Rhythm Management Business

ICD is a device implanted by doctors for people at high risk of cardiac arrest and other life-threatening arrhythmias. Traditional ICD leads connect to the heart and monitor its rhythm to help detect dangerous arrhythmias. The collaboration between Abbott and AtaCorExternal Vascular Defibrillator (EV-ICD) adopts a minimally invasive approach, combining the advantages of traditional ICDs with innovative design improvements, which can prevent complications such as vascular injury, lead fractures or malfunctions, and lead infections. By placing the lead components outside the heart and vascular system, this method is expected to address long-standing lead management challenges and may reduce the need for complex corrective surgeries due to transvenous and across-heart structure lead placements.

As one of the top three players in cardiac rhythm management, Abbott must present its own...EV-ICD to counter Medtronic, while maintaining its own position inLeadership in Rhythm Management.

Therefore, this time withAtaCor Collaboration Will Enable Abbott inA Shortcut in EV-ICD Development: Narrowing the Time Gap with Medtronic. As part of the collaboration, AtaCor plans to initiate an IDE clinical study this year.ALARION EV), to evaluateextravascular EV-ICD lead (Atala) and Abbott ICD system

PI Evaluation

"Abbott's AtaCor investigational system represents an exciting advancement in the field of cardiac care, with its ease of implantation and the potential to deliver ICD therapy outside the heart while maintaining contact with cardiac tissue, offering a significant new treatment option for patients in need of life-saving protective measures."

Atala
AtalaIt is a revolutionary EV-ICD lead that is compatible with all commercially available transvenous ICDs.AtalaCan be mentioned
Providing reliable sensing, pacing, and shock therapy to treat life-threatening arrhythmias, while avoiding entry into the heart and vascular system to reduce unnecessary complications.
图片
Advantages of Atala over traditional leads
  • Unlike subcutaneous ICDs that cannot provide anti-tachycardia pacing (ATP) therapy, Atala achieves both ATP and shock therapy through a single lead and a single procedure.
  • AtalaSpecifically designed to enhance patient comfort, it is compatible with smaller and thinner commercially available transvenous ICDs (compared to subcutaneous ICDs). This feature not only improves the aesthetic appearance and comfort after device implantation but also significantly reduces pain perception during ATP therapy.
  • AtalaAdvancing Cardiac Rhythm Management to Higher Standards --- Its proprietary design features optimize the implantation process of extravascular ICD leads while enabling seamless integration of ATP and shock therapy through commercially available transvenous ICDs.

AtaCor Medical
Atacor MedicalIt is an innovative medical device company dedicated to transforming heart rhythms through novel extravascular catheters and deployment systems, aiming to eliminate the risks, costs, and drawbacks associated with traditional transvenous leads.
