On July 10, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that Kaleidoscope Labs, a cannabis CBD brand company, announced the completion of a $4 million seed funding round, led by venture capital firm RRE Ventures. Kaleidoscope Labs is one of the few cannabis CBD brands invested in by RRE Ventures.

The company will use the financing to expand its brand influence, further enhance product efficacy, and support its nonprofit organization, the Kaleidoscope Gives Foundation, which provides funding for various initiatives within the cannabis industry.

Kaleidoscope Labs, founded in 2018 and headquartered in New York, USA, has developed a unique full-spectrum cannabis formulation by combining cannabidiol (CBD) with other natural ingredients to address current market gaps. This formulation is delivered via microencapsulated capsules, leveraging microencapsulation technology to enhance bioavailability.

Inspired by nature and medicine, Kaleidoscope Labs sources organically grown plants from Kentucky to extract their full spectrum, capturing all beneficial nutrients without omitting any compounds. This approach enables consumers to discover their “perfect mode” and leverage the entourage effect of hemp-derived CBD through a variety of formulations.

After users complete the online questionnaire, Kaleidoscope Labs creates a customized plan based on their health goals and needs. Kaleidoscope Labs offers five formulations, each containing 30 mg of CBD along with other natural ingredients to maximize the synergistic effects.

Unlike CBD tinctures or other CBD products that may deliver inconsistent dosages, Kaleidoscope Labs ensures that each capsule delivers a standardized amount. The “capsule-in-capsule” design allows the ingredients within to bypass the initial stage of digestion. Through this formulation, Kaleidoscope Labs has redefined it as a daily, functional, and healthier ingredient, leveraging microencapsulation to achieve higher bioavailability and greater efficacy.

“I founded Kaleidoscope Labs because there were no CBD products on the market that met my needs. I was a ballet dancer in my childhood and remain an avid skiing enthusiast; these activities took a significant toll on my body, and CBD was one of the few things that provided relief. With the support of investors, we have set out to create more reliable, science-backed CBD capsules—a missing component in the cannabis ecosystem,” said Ana Rosenstein, Founder and CEO.

“We have seen growing consumer expectations for personalization, subscription products, and health-conscious choices, so we are excited about Kaleidoscope’s market potential in this area. The CBD cannabis market is a rapidly emerging sector without a clear category leader, projected to reach $200 million annually by 2022. We are thrilled to add Kaleidoscope to our portfolio of consumer health brands, which includes Care/Of, Maude, Kindbody, Nanit, Spring Health, and BARK,” said Stu Ellman of RRE Ventures.
