On July 25, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that Nasdaq-listed company BioTelemetry had acquired the Swedish medical technology company ADEA Medical AB (hereinafter referred to as “ADEA”). The acquisition amount was not disclosed.

ADEA primarily offers diagnostic products and telemedicine services. BioTelemetry’s acquisition of ADEA was mainly aimed at expanding its international service reach, providing products and services to physicians and patients in Nordic countries and other parts of Europe.

ADEA was founded in 2018 with the aim of simplifying patients’ lives while enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare diagnostics, providing telemedicine services to the Nordic region. The brand name currently used by ADEA is Rithm. Prior to this acquisition, Rithm served as BioTelemetry’s official partner for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region.

BioTelemetry, founded 25 years ago and headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA, went public on the NASDAQ in 2013 and has since become a world-leading telehealth technology company. BioTelemetry is dedicated to the field of mobile and wireless medical technology, providing patients with health information to help improve their quality of life and reduce care costs.

BioTelemetry provides remote cardiac monitoring, remote glucose monitoring, centralized core laboratory services for clinical trials, and original equipment to healthcare and clinical research clients.

Furthermore, BioTelemetry empowers B-side clients, enabling healthcare professionals to monitor and diagnose patients in a more effective, accurate, and cost-efficient manner. As a pioneer in remote patient monitoring, BioTelemetry’s BioTel Heart division has revolutionized healthcare through its suite of cardiac monitoring devices, which includes the FDA-cleared ePatch™ and mobile cardiac outpatient telemetry monitors. BioTelemetry performs over 4 billion heart rate measurements daily and monitors more than 1 million patients annually.

“This acquisition is a key step in bringing our health products and services to European customers outside the United States,” said Joseph H. Capper, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioTelemetry. “Cardiac conditions diagnosed by our technology are a global challenge. We now have the opportunity to export life-saving technologies and help improve the quality of care for patients on a broader scale.”
