On July 30, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that health tech startup WellSet had completed its seed funding round, with investors Kelly Noonan Gores and Broadway Angels participating. The amount raised was not disclosed.
Following this round of financing, WellSet will be officially established in Los Angeles, USA, and will further develop the WellSet health service platform. The platform is scheduled to launch nationwide in the United States in the fall of 2019.
WellSet, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Los Angeles, USA, offers a platform that helps users seeking to improve their health connect with healthcare practitioners tailored to their needs, thereby enabling them to achieve optimal well-being. Since January 2019, WellSet has onboarded more than 3,000 healthcare providers from over 30 distinct medical disciplines, including acupuncture, physical therapy, nutrition, functional medicine, craniosacral therapy, and holistic treatment. Users can search for and book locally certified healthcare practitioners on the WellSet website by filtering by provider type, health concern, location, price, and ratings.
Tegan Bukowski, CEO and Founder of WellSet, stated, “Between 2015 and 2017, the global health economy grew by 6.4%, nearly twice the rate of overall global economic growth. While a growing number of consumers are focusing on health and wellness, there remains a lack of tools to help them get started. As a trusted platform, WellSet enables users to discover and book suitable healthcare practitioners.”
Hanna Madrigan, Chief Operating Officer of WellSet, stated, “A recent report indicates that over 20% of American adults suffer from chronic diseases, and we are committed to improving the health of Americans. Similar to platforms like Airbnb, WellSet is a healthcare services marketplace where users can quickly find and book healthcare practitioners. We aim to bring trusted brands, industry leaders, and top-tier practitioners together in one online community to promote health for all.”
Screenwriter, director, and producer Kelly Noonan Gores commented on the financing round: “WellSet has the capacity to transform the current state of our healthcare system by empowering healthcare providers to understand and improve patients’ overall health, moving beyond traditional treatments that merely manage disease symptoms. WellSet not only fills a gap in the health industry but also builds a robust and inclusive community where people can pursue healthier lives.”
