On July 31, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that digital health product company Hello Heart had completed a $12 million financing round. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Resolute Ventures, Maven Ventures, and BlueRun Ventures.
Following this round of financing, Hello Heart will further develop its hypertension monitoring product, Hello Heart, to provide preventive solutions that reduce long-term treatment costs.
It is reported that the company has raised $23.2 million in financing since its establishment in 2013. Previously, it raised $700,000, $1.5 million, and $9 million in 2014, 2015, and 2018, respectively.
Hello Heart is headquartered in California, USA, and is dedicated to improving people’s heart health through mobile technology. The company’s hypertension monitoring product, Hello Heart, tracks users’ blood pressure, blood glucose, and weight using an FDA-cleared Bluetooth blood pressure monitor and a companion smartphone app. The app also provides behavioral guidance based on measurement data to help reduce users’ disease risk.
The Hello Heart monitoring system has been validated by peer-reviewed research. A study funded by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Harvard Medical School showed that 70% of Hello Heart users experienced an average blood pressure reduction of 22 mmHg.
Maayan Cohen, CEO of Hello Heart, stated, “Users can monitor their hypertension through our app and access their personal health data to gain a holistic understanding of their well-being. We collect all patient data in a randomized and anonymized manner to provide insights into population health, but we do not sell any data to third parties. We place a high value on user privacy and commit that no one other than the users themselves will have access to their data. Our mission is to empower patients to understand and improve their health status. As heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, we are proud to effectively help patients address their cardiovascular health concerns.”
Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, stated, “We are delighted to partner with Hello Heart. Every consumer should be the CEO of their own health. Hello Heart is the only digital health solution for hypertension we have seen that has the potential to transform people’s current health status and deliver long-term clinical impact.”
