Recently, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that Catholic Health, a health center headquartered in New York, USA, has fully acquired Sterling Surgical Center, a deal that had been in the works for several months.

Catholic Health, established in 1998 and sponsored by four religious organizations, is a non-profit healthcare system. Through its network of hospitals, primary care centers, imaging centers, and several other community-based divisions, Catholic Health provides high-quality medical care services to local residents in New York. Catholic Health has been recognized by SDI as one of the Top 100 Integrated Healthcare Systems.

Sterling Surgical Center is a medical institution featuring multi-specialty, high-quality surgical care facilities. Headquartered approximately one mile from the Southtowns Ambulatory Surgery Center in Orchard Park, Sterling Surgical Center is a joint venture established by Buffalo-based Kaleida Health and more than ten physicians.

Catholic Health stated that it had acquired a 40% stake in Sterling Surgical Center in 2017. The transaction, which will finalize the acquisition of the remaining 60% stake, is scheduled to close on August 1, with the specific financial terms undisclosed.

Catholic Health disclosed that the transaction is expected to be completed in approximately 90 days and is currently awaiting government approval.

This transaction will expand Catholic Health’s outpatient ophthalmology and gastrointestinal surgical services in the region. Its health system will operate the Mercy Outpatient Care Center and outpatient centers in West Seneca, East Aurora, and Lackawanna, New York, including the Orchard Park location.

Catholic Health has announced that it is currently undertaking the largest investment in its history, committing over $100 million to the development of advanced technologies. This initiative aims to connect patients across hospitals, home care, long-term care, clinician offices, health centers, and ancillary services, thereby enhancing the overall standard of medical care. This transformative investment marks a significant milestone in Catholic Health’s journey in the healthcare sector.
