On August 22, Zhang Kuan, General Manager of WeDoctor Wuzhen Internet Hospital, together with Liu Guoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Qiqihar Nianzishan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Tang Chuanyin, President of Nianzishan District People's Hospital, jointly launched the first county-level WeDoctor Wuzhen Internet Hospital Demonstration Base in China. Through “Internet Plus,” WeDoctor has extended its digital healthcare capabilities beyond the Shanhai Pass, taking root and flourishing in Nianzishan District, Qiqihar.

Unlike other district-level administrative divisions of prefecture-level cities, Nianzishan District is located more than 100 kilometers from the city center. For local residents, transportation poses a significant barrier when seeking consultations with higher-level hospitals or specialists for conditions that cannot be managed by local medical facilities. The Wuzhen Internet Hospital Nianzishan Demonstration Base has integrated resources from the WeDoctor platform, offline service bases, and hardware and software terminal capabilities to help Nianzishan District People’s Hospital enhance its diagnostic, treatment, and service capabilities.

Through the “Expert Cloud Clinic” smart platform, physicians can provide residents of Nianzishan District with expert remote consultations, remote multidisciplinary consultations for complex cases, online two-way referrals, and scheduling of surgeries with specialists. Local patients can book appointments with top-tier specialists from China’s leading Grade 3A hospitals without leaving their county.

It is reported that the expert cloud outpatient system developed by WeDoctor has been piloted in multiple hospitals across Inner Mongolia, Henan, and other regions since June this year.

At this kickoff meeting, Professor Liu Xu from the Department of Cardiology at Shanghai Chest Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, provided online guidance to physicians at Nianzishan People's Hospital via the Expert Cloud Outpatient System. He addressed clinical challenges encountered during consultations and offered precise treatment recommendations based on the transmitted patient case data.

Qu Jianhui, Director of the Liver Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Research Center at the former PLA 302 Hospital and a gastroenterology and hepatology expert with WeDoctor’s Jumei Doctor Group, subsequently conducted remote consultations for two additional liver disease patients in collaboration with physicians at the hospital. The expert cloud outpatient system effectively spared patients the hardship of traveling long distances to consult specialists, thereby enhancing patient satisfaction at Nianzishan People’s Hospital.

Currently, telemedicine has been included in the draft of the Basic Medical and Health Care and Health Promotion Law by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress due to its characteristics such as "connecting with many experts, fast diagnostic results, good user experience, and cost savings." In the future, WeDoctor will accelerate the nationwide replication and layout of its expert cloud outpatient system along with policy support, bringing "top-tier hospital resources to grassroots levels," truly enabling people to receive treatment for serious illnesses without leaving their counties.
