Developer of Artificial Intelligence Medical Imaging Diagnosis System
From August 29 to 31, 2019, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference was held in Shanghai, attended by Qiao Xin, Co-founder and CEO of DeepWise. At the roundtable forum of the 2019 Global AI Health Summit, themed “Smart Health, Foreseeing the Future,” Qiao Xin joined fellow panelists in discussing hot topics and key issues in the field of AI-driven healthcare. He comprehensively showcased DeepWise’s achievements in “AI + Healthcare,” injecting new momentum into the development of smart healthcare.
In recent years, the Chinese government has attached great importance to and actively promoted the development of health and medical big data applications. A series of policy documents, including the Outline of the “Healthy China 2030” Plan and the Development Plan for New-Generation Artificial Intelligence, have been successively issued to advance the implementation of the “Healthy China” strategy. With the rapid integration and development of new-generation information technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, the healthcare industry has entered an era of intelligence, ushering in opportunities for the development of smart healthcare.
The Health Summit has garnered extensive attention and support from the industry. It offers a forward-looking perspective on global trends, divided into two sections: Insights and Industry Policy. Renowned experts from China and abroad were invited to share their views on major trends in health development and critical issues of common concern to all humanity. Academician Pan Yunhe, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Zong Ming, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, outlined the blueprint for the development of China’s new generation of artificial intelligence from different perspectives. Notably, both specifically mentioned DeepWise, a medical AI company, in their addresses.
At a roundtable discussion on new approaches to the development of AI healthcare industry policies, hosted by Zhou Bing, Editor-in-Chief of Health News. Focusing on the construction of smart healthcare, Qiao Xin, Co-founder and CEO of DeepWise, stated that medical artificial intelligence is receiving increasing attention in China. He described this as the best of times, noting that just as we have read about how Watt’s steam engine changed the world, he believes that in this era of artificial intelligence, we may also become witnesses to history, with the opportunity to see the entire world transformed by new technologies.

Reflecting on the technological advancements and changes of the past two years, Qiao Xin believes they can be described as “rapidly evolving.” In terms of product development, DeepWise started in 2017 with a single product for pulmonary nodule detection. Today, it has gradually established a comprehensive portfolio of AI-powered medical imaging products, including AI-assisted diagnostic systems for mammography, stroke, complex joint disorders, pediatric growth and development assessment, and chest radiography, among others, to meet clinicians’ needs.
In particular, this August, DeepWise has just launched a whole-lung artificial intelligence product. This is the industry’s first single-organ, multi-disease imaging AI system. It changes the current status quo where AI applications in chest CT are limited to automated screening for pulmonary nodules, with other lung diseases still requiring manual diagnosis by physicians. The application of AI has thus been expanded from single-disease detection to multi-disease detection within a single anatomical region—the entire lung.。
Such conditions as inflammation, nodules, tumors, emphysema, bullae, pleural effusion, and fractures, along with the entire diagnostic and therapeutic management process—including qualitative diagnosis, quantitative analysis, multi-time-point follow-up, and standardized structured reporting. In contrast to current AI-assisted pulmonary diagnostic products that are limited to detecting lung nodules, whole-lung AI-assisted diagnosis can effectively address clinical diagnostic needs in real-world hospital settings.
For AI companies, opportunities stem from market dynamics and core competencies. The closer a company engages with physicians, the clearer and more direct the feedback it receives, enabling it to deliver better products and solutions that align with clinical needs and enhance medical research capabilities. In addition to its mature portfolio of imaging products, DeepWise has developed solutions such as an intelligent imaging cloud platform and a multimodal research platform through continuous communication and collaboration with clients. Meanwhile, DeepWise is also partnering with leading medical institutions in China in areas including intelligent consultation and pathological testing, with related products set to be launched soon.
Qiao Xin pointed out, “As an AI enterprise, we have genuinely felt the nation’s emphasis on the development of the medical artificial intelligence industry and its attention to AI companies. Artificial intelligence offers the greatest potential for China to achieve ‘overtaking on a bend’ in future technological development. DeepWise has been consistently striving toward this goal.” Regarding the forthcoming regulatory policies for the medical AI industry, as a company, we fully trust and support any industry policies issued by regulatory authorities, as these are fundamental to ensuring the healthy and orderly development of the sector.
As a pioneer and leader in promoting the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, DeepWise is committed to integrating advanced AI technologies into the medical field. The company has strategically positioned itself in key AI-driven healthcare applications and has built multiple product lines centered on “AI + Healthcare,” including an AI-assisted medical diagnosis system, a multimodal research platform, and an intelligent imaging cloud. Among these, the AI-assisted medical diagnosis system is widely used for early screening of breast cancer, assessment of children’s growth and development, auxiliary diagnosis of stroke, screening of thoracic diseases, and detection of complex joint lesions.
Meanwhile, the continuous launch of new products has drawn significant attention to the AI healthcare industry, bringing about new transformations in the development of AI in the medical field. At the recently concluded 2019 China Hospeq, DeepWise made a high-profile release of its Dr.Wise® Artificial Intelligence Medical Auxiliary Diagnostic System for the Whole Lung, which attracted widespread industry attention.
In the field of AI-driven healthcare, DeepWise has not only expanded its AI applications from single-disease detection to multi-disease detection for entire anatomical regions—such as the whole lung—but also leads the industry in the variety and volume of its developed products. By establishing full-stack AI healthcare solution capabilities, DeepWise has built an ecosystem of intelligent, highly accurate, feature-rich, and robust AI medical products. This ecosystem comprehensively empowers physicians, enhances medical efficiency, ensures that the benefits of “AI + Healthcare” reach every patient, and drives the high-quality development of smart healthcare.
