The Era of Smart Healthcare Is Here: Building the Next Generation of Smart Hospitals

Yin Zhiguo, General Manager of Kingdee Medical, pointed out that data from the official website of the National Health Commission shows that in 2018, China recorded 8.31 billion patient visits, with 3.1% of hospitals shouldering 42% of the service supply. The two fundamental issues in the healthcare market—high demand and an irrational structural distribution—remain unresolved. How can the supply of medical services be expanded? Kingdee Medical believes that the introduction of the “Smart Hospital” concept will effectively enhance hospitals’ capacity to deliver medical services.

Zhu Yuanyuan, former Deputy President of the Air Force Hospital of the Eastern Theater Command, identified a series of challenges and pain points in hospital management from an administrative perspective. These include information asymmetry between hospitals and patients, contradictions between directives from higher authorities and the actual conditions within hospitals, and the mismatch between hospital service capacity and patients’ growing demands. Additionally, he highlighted broader societal issues such as medical insurance, pharmaceuticals, emergency response, and aid-based construction.

The construction of smart hospitals encompasses every aspect of hospital management, and even extends to collaboration between doctors and patients, as well as among medical institutions.。Externally, by providing internet-based medical consultation, diagnosis and treatment, and convenient services; internally, by building a digital hospital centered on electronic medical records, implementing refined comprehensive operational management, and deploying mobile work platforms, hospitals can overcome various management challenges and comprehensively enhance their level of intelligence.
