Specific financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Upon completion of this acquisition, nearly 20 employees of Trusted HP in Michigan, USA, will join Health Alliance Plan (HAP). HAP will expand its Medicaid business in Michigan, improve the quality of healthcare for patients in the region, and increase their access to medical services.

Trusted HP, established in 1995 and headquartered in Michigan, USA, is a healthcare management organization. Previously known as Harbor Health Plan and ProCare Health Plan, Trusted HP has operated as a licensed Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in Michigan since 2000, specializing in providing affordable managed care services to patients and their families.

HAP, founded in 1960 and headquartered in Michigan, USA, is a non-profit health insurance company. For nearly 60 years, the organization has partnered with leading hospitals and community organizations to improve people’s lives and health outcomes. HAP’s product portfolio comprises six lines of business: group commercial insurance, individual insurance, Medicare, Medicaid (operating under HAP’s authorized name), self-funded plans, and network leasing. Additionally, the company offers disease prevention and management services, wellness programs, and personalized customer service.

HAP serves 570,000 members in Michigan, and its subsidiary, HAP Midwest Health Plan, provides Medicaid services under the name HAP Empowered. The Medicaid plans offered by HAP Empowered include coverage for those affected by the Flint water crisis, MIChild, the Healthy Michigan Plan, and Special Medical Services for Children.

HAP also participates in the MI Health Link demonstration project, serving 4,500 patients enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid in Wayne and Macomb counties, including some of Detroit’s most underserved areas.

Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, Henry Ford is one of the leading integrated healthcare organizations in the United States and is renowned for its excellence in clinical innovation and research. The institution provides health insurance and healthcare services spanning acute care, specialty care, and preventive care. Henry Ford is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Wright Lassiter III.

Wright Lassiter III stated, “Given our geographic coverage, participating in Medicaid services in Michigan’s Region 10 is a strategic priority for Henry Ford and Health Alliance Plan (HAP). This acquisition will help us expand our Medicaid services. Henry Ford is committed to leveraging joint assets and unique integrated health system initiatives to improve the quality of care and increase access to healthcare for Medicaid patients in underserved areas, who are among the most vulnerable populations.”
