Mr. Pan Xiyuan, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Perennial Real Estate Holdings, and Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Singapore’s Wilmar International (headquarters of Jinlongyu), stated: “Kunming is one of the three national-level demonstration zones for the health industry development and serves as a transportation hub connecting the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative with Southeast Asian countries. The Perennial International Health & Medical Tourism City – Kunming South Railway Station project, located adjacent to the Kunming South High-Speed Railway Station, will leverage Kunming as a starting point to establish an international ‘medical tourism’ platform linking China, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, and to build one of the largest domestic projects integrating medical care and elderly care. Furthermore, by capitalizing on Yunnan’s favorable weather and climate, we will further develop Kunming’s tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sectors, creating an integrated tourism and MICE platform to meet the healthcare, elderly care, MICE, and retail needs of residents in Southwest China, as well as those in East and Southeast Asian countries.”
Kunming South Railway Station is a critical transportation hub radiating into Southeast Asia under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It is an ultra-large integrated transportation hub combining high-speed rail, metro, buses, taxis, and other modes of transport. As the western terminus of the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway, Kunming South Railway Station connects Kunming with major cities across China, including Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. The station will also serve as a pivotal hub linking various regions of China with Southeast Asian countries—such as Thailand, Laos, and Singapore—through the three future corridors of the Pan-Asia High-Speed Railway Network: the Central Route, the Western Route (often associated with the Beijing–Guangzhou corridor in broader network planning), and the Eastern Route. Kunming is poised to become the center of the “5-Hour Aviation Circle in Asia,” ensuring that flights from Kunming to any major Asian city can be completed within approximately five hours. In the future, Kunming will reach a population of 70 million within a one-hour travel radius and 200 million within a two-hour travel radius.
The planned international general hospital will introduce advanced concepts from Singapore, be constructed in accordance with JCI international standards, and provide high-quality comprehensive medical services meeting international benchmarks. Leveraging Kunming’s geographical advantages, it will pioneer a new “tourism + healthcare” model to serve domestic clients while providing them with internationally standardized comprehensive services. The rehabilitation hospital will focus on neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, and geriatric rehabilitation, with specialized chronic disease health management. It will carry out chronic disease rehabilitation management centered on prevention, health assessment, disease screening, and long-term care.
As China’s first premium specialty medical sharing platform, Perennial International Medical Center carefully selects outstanding medical teams from both domestic and international sources, establishing various specialty clinics to provide one-stop, high-quality healthcare services. At the Medical Center, Perennial creates a comfortable and convenient clinical environment with comprehensive supporting facilities, enabling expert teams to move in effortlessly and focus entirely on medical practice without operational burdens, thereby allowing patients to easily access the finest healthcare services available both domestically and abroad.
Perennial Real Estate Holdings’ senior care business has expanded to more than ten cities across China, with a cumulative total of over 40 senior care institutions. It currently operates 7,000 beds and has more than 8,000 beds under construction, making it one of the largest senior care operators in China. Perennial will introduce its existing senior care expertise and resources to Yunnan, with the project planning to provide more than 1,000 nursing and elderly care beds.
Perennial International Health, Business & Travel City – Kunming South Railway Station Project tailors its age-friendly architectural design and spatial planning to the hourly daily routines of seniors, enabling elderly residents with diverse needs to enjoy a perfect 24-hour lifestyle. The project provides one-stop elderly care services integrating medical treatment, rehabilitation, long-term care, and nursing support. Additionally, it offers customized nutritious meals for seniors with chronic conditions, based on dietary recommendations from the Chinese Nutrition Society and using Jinlongyu’s full-industry-chain healthy and safe food products. The facility is equipped with smart elderly-care systems, including intelligent wristbands, smart mattresses, and a dedicated mobile application.
Kunming’s tourism industry is in a period of robust growth, with the number of tourists reaching 161 million in 2018. In recent years, high-speed rail travel has emerged as a popular tourism trend. Leveraging the transportation advantages of Kunming South Railway Station, the Perennial International Health and Business Travel City – Kunming South Station project will provide one-stop services for high-speed rail travelers, including accommodation, commercial facilities, and medical tourism.
Kunming is located at the forefront of opening up to five major regions: South Asia, Southeast Asia, West Asia, Southern Europe, and Africa. Its strategic location enables the expansion of Kunming’s exhibition and convention market both domestically and internationally. The hotel component of the Perennial International Health & Business Travel City – Kunming South Railway Station project will feature a conference center with approximately 2,000 seats and around 1,000 guest rooms. The conference center offers flexible and adaptable spaces, most of which benefit from natural daylighting. It is equipped with high-end, advanced conferencing facilities and provides one-stop services tailored for exhibitions and conventions. The facility aims to primarily attract and meet the domestic and international exhibition and conference demands of the big health and pharmaceutical industries.
