In 2019, the People’s Republic of China celebrated its 70th anniversary. Over these seven decades of trials and tribulations, China’s pharmaceutical and healthcare industry has undergone profound transformations, establishing an entirely new landscape. At present, policy “combo measures” are being effectively implemented; the “China speed” of drug review and approval has garnered widespread acclaim; investment in the biopharmaceutical sector is accelerating further; and internet healthcare has achieved new breakthroughs. To document and witness the trajectory of these epochal changes, and to identify and highlight exemplary role models, Sina Medicine, in partnership with the (China) Food and Drug Industry Think Tank, has specially launched the “New Wisdom Hub · 2019 Pharmaceutical Industry Annual Value Pioneers List” selection campaign.

The selection aims to identify true explorers and practitioners who create value, sustain innovative vitality, and exert a positive impact on industrial transformation. It features three categories of awards and seven leaderboards, adhering to the principles of objectivity, fairness, and transparency to conduct a comprehensive scan and professional review of the pharmaceutical industry across dimensions such as individuals, enterprises, products, and projects. Furthermore, we will select representative participants and companies for in-depth research, interviews, and coverage, striving to maximize influence and value.

The registration channel for the selection process officially opened on October 15, 2019. Following online registrations and nominations, shortlisted candidates were determined for evaluation. The final list of awardees was determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight). Meanwhile, this event will continue to integrate media resources and invite authoritative institutions to participate in the certification process. Industry leaders and pioneers are cordially invited to participate. The final results will be announced in December.

The following are the awards for evaluation:

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise/institution where the nominee is employed must be a formally registered entity within China.

2. Forward-looking: The nominees hold considerable status and influence within the industry, capable of providing new perspectives and measures to promote high-quality development, thereby significantly driving and leading industry progress.

3. Pioneering Spirit: Nominees have made significant contributions in areas such as corporate/institutional management, talent development, R&D innovation, and social responsibility. They continuously enhance the endogenous momentum of their enterprises/institutions, promote their strengthening, optimization, and expansion, and serve as role models for industry development.

4. Excellence: The nominees demonstrated outstanding performance in 2019, serving as exemplary models who achieved significant breakthroughs and notable accomplishments during the year, and have been widely recognized by the industry.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial phases of online registration and nominated submissions, shortlisted candidates entered the evaluation stage. The final results were determined by a combination of online public voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight), culminating in the announcement of the top 10 award recipients.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise or institution where the candidate is employed must be a formally registered entity within mainland China.

2. Innovativeness: The nominee demonstrates a strong awareness of independent innovation, with products, technologies, projects, or management models led by them personally or as the primary person in charge exhibiting industry-level innovativeness and disruptiveness, along with prominent social benefits.

3. Competitiveness: The products, technologies, projects, and other initiatives led by the nominees demonstrate strong industry competitiveness, deliver significant tangible results, and offer substantial economic benefits or investment value.

4. Candidates who demonstrated outstanding performance in 2019, serving as exemplary representatives with numerous highlights and rapid progress during the year, will be given priority if they possess independent intellectual property rights, core technologies, and innovative achievements.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online registration and nomination phases, shortlisted candidates entered the evaluation stage. The final results were determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight), culminating in the announcement of the top 10 award recipients.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating business entities must be formally registered enterprises within China, with current total assets exceeding RMB 1 billion, and possess a certain level of influence in the industrial sector of China’s pharmaceutical industry.

2. Participating enterprises have achieved outstanding results in 2019 in terms of R&D, sales, profits, market share, growth scale, and industrial progress.

3. Participating enterprises prioritize production safety, operate with integrity and compliance, actively engage in public welfare initiatives, and effectively balance employee rights and occupational health, thereby serving as positive social role models.

Note: Participating companies may submit data from the past three years, including R&D expenditures, revenue, market capitalization or valuation, as well as information on projects under development, under regulatory review, or already approved, for reference.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online and recommended nominations, shortlisted candidates entered the evaluation phase. The final results, comprising a list of 10 award-winning enterprises, were determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight).

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprise must be a formally registered entity within China, established no more than 10 years ago, with a current market capitalization or valuation exceeding RMB 500 million.

2. Participating enterprises possess independent R&D capabilities and innovative concepts, effectively providing new solutions for industry development and leading future trends.

3. Participating enterprises can actively adapt to market demands, with strong industry competitiveness in their products, technologies, and projects, achieving significant practical results and demonstrating favorable economic benefits or investment value.

4. Participating enterprises with multiple recognitions or awards for technological achievements in growth potential, innovation capability, etc., will be given priority.

Note: Participating companies may submit data from the past three years, including R&D expenditure, revenue, financing amounts, market capitalization or valuation, as well as information on projects under development, under regulatory review, or already approved, for reference.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online and recommended registration phases, nominees were shortlisted for evaluation. The final results, determining the list of ten award-winning enterprises, were derived from a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight).

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprises must be legally registered entities within China, with an average annual sales revenue exceeding RMB 300 million over the past three years, and possess a certain level of influence in the pharmaceutical distribution sector in China.

2. The participating enterprises demonstrated outstanding performance and gained recognition in 2019 in terms of revenue, profit, market share, and growth scale.

3. Participating enterprises have gained widespread user recognition through high-quality products and services, with continuous improvements in brand awareness and reputation.

4. Participating enterprises demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation, implementing significant innovative measures across product development, technology, management, talent cultivation, and business models. They play a prominent exemplary role in driving industry transformation and leading future development trends.

Note: Participating companies may submit data such as the number of stores, medical insurance coverage rate, and sales, profits, market capitalization, or valuation figures from the past three years for reference.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online and nomination-based registration phases, shortlisted candidates entered the evaluation stage. The final results, determining the list of 30 award-winning enterprises, were derived from a combination of online public voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight).

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The product under evaluation must be a commercially available product in China, with an average annual sales revenue exceeding RMB 200 million over the past three years, and the operating entity of its manufacturer must be a formally registered enterprise within China.

2. In a highly competitive environment, the evaluated product continuously adapts to policy changes and drives innovative development, possessing core competitive advantages and strong growth potential. Its annual sales volume significantly outperforms other products in the same category, achieving an exceptionally high market share.

3. The products under evaluation have gained widespread public recognition for their superior quality, boasting excellent brand awareness and reputation, and have made outstanding contributions to improving the nation's health standards.

Note: Participating brands may submit data from the past three years, including sales, profits, and market size, for reference.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online and recommended registration phases, nominated entries entered the evaluation stage. The final results were determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight), culminating in the announcement of the top 30 award-winning products.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise/institution where the nominee works must be a formally registered entity within China.

2. The nominated project is a public relations practice activity sponsored and supported by an enterprise or institution in terms of human resources, material resources, and funding for health-related public welfare causes.

3. The project under evaluation demonstrated outstanding performance in 2019, successfully mobilizing resources from all sectors of society to provide tangible assistance to beneficiaries, with significant and measurable impact.

4. The project under evaluation has generated broad social impact, serving as an exemplary model that encourages more enterprises and institutions to dedicate human and material resources to public welfare initiatives.

Selection Criteria:

Following the initial online registration and nomination phases, shortlisted candidates entered the evaluation stage. The final results were determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight), culminating in the announcement of the top 10 award-winning projects.
