Companies Providing Medical Staffing Services to Healthcare Institutions in the United States

VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that CHG Healthcare has acquired Modio Health, a physician credentialing company. The timing of the transaction and financial details have not been disclosed. Following the acquisition, Modio will retain its original name and continue to operate with its 30-person team, based in San Francisco and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Following this acquisition, Modio Health and CHG Healthcare will combine their strengths and advantages to enhance credentialing efficiency for CHG employees and the thousands of healthcare providers and medical institutions they partner with, thereby making the credentialing process faster, more secure, and more cost-effective for CHG employees, thousands of healthcare providers, and medical institutions.

CHG Healthcare, founded in 1979 and headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, was named one of Fortune’s Best Companies for Women in 2019. The company provides hospitals and healthcare facilities with physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists, laboratory clinicians, and other medical professionals, arranging either permanent placement or temporary staffing based on mutual agreement.

The company believes that the best way to become an industry leader is to create its own industry. In 1979, CHG transformed the healthcare landscape by inventing the locum tenens staffing model. Today, with operations spanning all 50 U.S. states as well as New Zealand, Australia, and Guam, the company has reached a milestone of improving the quality of life for 25 million patients annually.

Modio Health, founded in 2014, is a physician credentialing provider based in San Francisco, California. The company leverages cloud computing technology to deliver credentialing and career management solutions for healthcare providers. Currently, it serves more than 400 clients across the United States, including hospitals, medical groups, and pharmacies.

Physician credentialing and licensure are among the most critical processes in healthcare; without authoritative physician credentials, doctors cannot gain patient trust. Slow or inaccurate credentialing processes pose significant challenges to healthcare organizations striving for efficient operations, as well as to their physicians and patients. In an era marked by a shortage of physicians, the merger of these two companies lays the foundation for a more flexible and modern approach to medical practice.

“By combining Modio’s technology with CHG’s extensive network and deep reach in the healthcare industry, this partnership will bring us tremendous opportunities,” said John Bou, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Modio Health.
