Only through practice can technology truly be implemented, and only through industrialization can the benefits of technology reach more people.
On August 12, 2019, to promote the continuous development of China’s cardiovascular field and foster innovative integration among industry, academia, research, and clinical application, the Cardiac Surgery Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association, the Cardiovascular Surgery Technology and Engineering Branch of the Chinese Medicine Biotechnology Association, and VCBeat jointly launched “From the Heart: Call for Entries – Top 10 Cardiovascular Technology Innovation Cases in China (2019)"Event, open to medical institutions at all levels and types, as well as medical device, pharmaceutical, and service enterprises, widely soliciting case studies of technological innovation in cardiovascular care."
After nearly two months of online solicitation and preliminary screening, we have selected 44 innovative cases from 15 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu, to compete for the honor of “Top Ten Cardiovascular Technology Innovation Cases in China.”
It includes 17 hospital cases from institutions such as Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital, and West China Hospital of Sichuan University, as well as 27 industrial innovation cases from companies such as Suzhou Jiecheng, Shanghai JinKui, Ningbo Jian Shi, and Jiangsu Biostar. The coverage spans four aspects: cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and health management. It encompasses subspecialties including aortic diseases, coronary artery diseases, valvular heart diseases, congenital heart diseases, and end-stage heart disease, along with supporting departments such as anesthesiology, extracorporeal circulation, intensive care, ultrasound, and medical imaging.
On October 9, we launched a 10-day period of expert review and public voting to select the “Top 10 Cardiovascular Technology Innovation Cases,” based on a combined score from professional experts and the general public. The professional scores were awarded by a panel of 23 experts comprising medical and industry specialists. The evaluation criteria included innovation and phased achievements, with comprehensive consideration given to key technologies, effectiveness, applications, innovativeness, value, and potential for academic translation or industrialization. The public voting garnered widespread attention across the industry, with total votes exceeding 1.5 million, attracting significant interest from both the industrial and academic communities in the cardiovascular field.
