The biopharmaceutical industry is hailed as “the world’s evergreen sunrise industry” and has been prioritized as a strategic emerging sector by many countries. Over the next two decades, it may well become the next engine driving socioeconomic development and a high ground in international competition. On October 28, 2019, the 2019 New Force Forum·Inaugural Hangzhou Bay Biopharmaceutical Innovation Conference and the 5th Annual Impact Meeting of the Biopharmaceutical Innovation Society was held at the Hangzhou International Expo Center (G20 Summit Venue). Where do the frontier technologies and development trends in biopharma lie? How should the industry seize opportunities and address challenges? Industry experts from academia, medicine, industry, and investment worldwide—including Nobel laureates, industry leaders, academicians from China and the United States, and prominent venture capital investors—gathered to discuss these questions.
