
10From June 26 to 27, the National Training Course on Application and Management of Health Information and Healthcare Big Data, hosted by the Chinese Society for Health Informatics and Medical Big Data, was successfully held at the Yantai International Conference Center. Approximately 120 participants attended, including representatives from relevant units of the National Health Commission, leaders in charge of health information and big data work from provincial, municipal, and county-level health commissions, as well as experts, scholars, and industry representatives engaged in health information and healthcare big data. Distinguished attendees included Mr. Jin Xiaotao, Former Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and President of the Chinese Society for Health Informatics and Medical Big Data; Mr. Bao Xinyong, Director of the Yantai Municipal Health Commission; Ms. Zhang Ailing, Deputy Director of the Yantai Municipal Health Commission; and Ms. Wang Yuan, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Yantai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

In his concluding remarks at the training program, Chairman Jin reviewed the comprehensive journey of health and medical big data, spanning from top-level design and policy implementation to the development of related pilot projects. He emphasized that practitioners must clearly understand the goals and significance of this field, embrace their mission and responsibilities through collaborative co-construction and sharing, promote the integrated development of the health information and health and medical big data sectors, and make new contributions to the Healthy China strategy.
This training program focused on the application and development of health and medical big data, featuring a diverse curriculum with rich content, strong interactivity, and practical orientation. Distinguished experts and instructors were invited to deliver lectures, including Huang Anpeng, Assistant to the Dean of the National Institute of Health and Medical Big Data at Peking University; Zhao Fei, Deputy Director of the Big Data Office at the Statistical Information Center of the National Health Commission; Wang Yanping, Director of the Information Center at Jilin Central Hospital; and Dong Fangjie from the Information Standards Division of the Statistical Information Center of the National Health Commission. Additionally, industry representatives from Neusoft, Inspur, Huawei, and Shandong Duoduo Health Service Co., Ltd. presented the latest achievements in the integration of industry, academia, research, and application.
Topics systematically covered include an interpretation of the new grading evaluation standards and management measures for electronic medical record (EMR) system application, progress and reflections on the practice of the National Health and Medical Big Data Northern Center, reflections and practices of 5G+IoT in the healthcare sector, health and medical big data and artificial intelligence, Yantai’s practices in smart community healthcare and telemedicine, the development of national health informatization and the application of health and medical big data, an interpretation of the standardization maturity assessment for national medical information interoperability, and explorations in cloud-based intelligent healthcare. These topics facilitate systematic learning and exchange from the perspectives of national policies, cutting-edge theories, and practical applications.
Meanwhile, an industry exchange platform was established for relevant practitioners, with group discussions and presentations held on topics of concern to professionals, including how health and medical big data can support the deepening of healthcare reform, its clinical applications and future prospects, as well as industrial development and practical implementation.
The development and application of big data in health and healthcare have generated substantial demand for high-level, interdisciplinary professionals. However, China continues to face the challenge of insufficient talent driving data utilization. Strengthening the cultivation of professionals in health and healthcare big data is of great significance for further promoting and standardizing the application and development of such data, as well as for leveraging information technologies based on medical big data to advance the informatization of healthcare institutions.
Through lectures, seminars, and exchanges, this training program provided participants with opportunities and a platform to interact with top-tier authoritative experts in China. This initiative helps leverage the role of medical big data and information technology in advancing the informatization of healthcare institutions, thereby creating space for the expansion and enhancement of health informatics and related supporting industries across various regions. By strengthening the cultivation of professionals in health informatics and health care big data, the program holds significant importance for promoting high-quality and sustainable development in the health care industry.
