The 2019 Qunxing MARS Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, themed “Synergistic Fusion,” focused on artificial intelligence, 5G, consumption upgrades, education, enterprise services, smart hardware, big data, culture and entertainment, e-commerce, new industrialization, internet finance, and related extended fields. From over 5,500 startup projects that registered for the competition, 13 emerged as finalists after rigorous refinement and intense competition.

Reflecting on the competition, the judges remarked that the 13 shortlisted projects demonstrated a high level of maturity, each featuring a clearly defined business model, with some even boasting healthy cash flows. After making difficult deliberations and ranking based on the judges’ scores, the Annual Top Seven were officially announced: Guanglan Technology, 5G+ Interactive Imaging Products, OE Acoustics, MicroLanguage, Jirui Technology, Lizheng Technology, and Smart Violin. In the final round, the 2019 Qunxing MARS Competition Annual Grand Finale featured the top 13 contestants, who were divided into groups to deliver 10-minute project presentations, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session with the judges. Upon completion of the Q&A, the judges provided immediate scores using a “Light-On/Light-Off/Explosive-Light” mechanism: one point for a light-on, zero points for a light-off, and two points for an explosive-light. Each judge was granted only one “explosive-light” opportunity per round, thereby clearly reflecting their preferences and the contestants’ performance through the scoring results.

The atmosphere at this year’s finals was exceptionally intense and electrifying, with competitors closely matched in their prowess. Several projects posed significant challenges for the judges in making their selections. Notably, Jirui Technology and Micro Language repeatedly faced off against each other. Initially, two judges found it difficult to choose between the two and both awarded them “top marks.” However, adhering to the strict competition rules, they reluctantly had to reserve the “top mark” for only one of the contenders. Yet, during the subsequent score announcement, a dramatic twist unfolded once again: both Jirui Technology and Micro Language secured high scores of 15 points. The two teams returned to the stage for a final showdown, pushing the competition’s excitement to its peak.

Lizheng Technology, the grand prize winner, has developed a next-generation low-altitude anti-drone system that addresses key challenges in detecting, identifying, directionally locating, and countering civilian remote-controlled drones both domestically and internationally. This system provides a high-quality, new-generation solution for low-altitude security across various sectors. From the semifinals onward, Lizheng Technology delivered consistent and impressive performances, earning strong favor from judges and mentors alike. In their bid to recruit the team into their respective squads, mentors escalated their offers: Mentor Wang Yajie declared, “Join my team; I have the resources you need!” while Mentor Zhang Tongge immediately countered with, “I can invest in you directly!” Ultimately, Mentor Wang Yajie secured this “gem,” thereby earning the “Gold Mentor” award of the competition, presented by Yi Peng, Founding Partner of Yiqiu Capital.
