On November 8, Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Ion Torrent™ Genexus™ System, the world’s first high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform capable of automatically completing the entire workflow from sample preparation to result reporting within a single day. The company also released the accompanying Oncomine™ Precision Assay pan-cancer kit.

As the world’s first fully integrated high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform from Thermo Fisher Scientific, the Ion Torrent™ Genexus™ System provides a one-day, end-to-end automated solution, redefining genomic analysis paradigms and facilitating the broader clinical adoption of precision medicine. This platform enables the complete gene sequencing workflow—from sample to report—to be performed automatically and cost-effectively within a single day, requiring only minimal sample input. In the future, this system will empower more hospitals to establish their own in-house NGS testing platforms, helping patients with cancer and other diseases obtain timely and comprehensive test results, better guide the selection of targeted therapies, improve treatment efficacy, and enhance patient prognosis.
