On November 11, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that telemedicine company Access Physicians announced the completion of a $9.3 million Series A financing round. The round was led by Health Enterprise Partners (HEP).

Upon completion of this financing round, Access Physicians will accelerate the deployment of its nationwide telemedicine platform and solidify its leadership in telehealth care by leveraging transformative clinical trial results achieved across 153 hospitals in 18 U.S. states. Additionally, Dave Tamburr, Executive Partner at HEP, will join the Board of Directors of Access Physicians.

Access Physicians, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is a telemedicine company. With a team of professional physicians, the company is dedicated to providing remote medical services to patients. Established by physicians, Access Physicians is one of the largest providers of telehealth services, with core offerings including virtual consultations and intensive care unit (ICU) monitoring. Its services span various specialties, such as general neurology, hospital medicine, cardiology, infectious diseases and antibiotic stewardship, and maternal-fetal medicine.

Access Physicians boasts an industry-leading team of medical experts, extensive telehealth experience, and advanced clinical workflows. Currently, the company collaborates with Fortune 500 healthcare enterprises, independent rural and community hospitals, regional hospital networks, and micro-hospital operators across the United States to deliver exceptional telehealth services to patients.

Access Physicians has received exclusive endorsement from the Texas Hospital Association, becoming the first telemedicine company to be recognized by a hospital association. The Texas Hospital Association is the second-largest hospital association in the United States, with its member hospitals accounting for 8% of all U.S. hospitals. In the first half of 2019, the association partnered with Access Physicians as its telemedicine provider for hospitals.

“Since the establishment of Access Physicians, we have been committed to providing timely and high-quality care services to every patient,” said Dr. Chris Gallagher, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and CEO of Access Physicians. “The telemedicine platform of Access Physicians integrates the clinical expertise of healthcare institutions and medical professionals. We hope it will significantly improve patients’ clinical outcomes and promote the sustainable development of the diagnosis, treatment, and care industry.”

Dave Tamburri stated, “The management team at Access Physicians has successfully overcome the challenges associated with the large-scale deployment of telemedicine platforms. By leveraging meticulous procedural design and advanced technology to serve their clients, they are poised for significant growth in the emerging telemedicine market.”
