Peking Union Medical College Hospital, West China Hospital, and PLA General Hospital Rank Top Three in Fudan University's China Hospital Rankings

On November 10, 2019, the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University released the “Fudan Version China Hospital Rankings.” Unsurprisingly, the top three hospitals in the “2018 China Hospital Rankings (Comprehensive)” remained Peking Union Medical College Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital. This marks the tenth consecutive year that these three institutions have dominated the top three positions in the comprehensive rankings.

Over the past decade, the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University has drawn on the evaluation methodology of the U.S. “Best Hospitals” rankings, adhering to a core focus on the level of clinical disciplines and specialty reputation while also taking into account annual research output. Owing to the scientific rigor of its evaluation methodology, the ranking results have gained widespread recognition within the healthcare industry.

This year, the number of experts participating in the evaluation increased to 4,879, with a valid response rate reaching 66.78%, the highest in ten years.

A representative from the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University stated that the rankings will continue to adhere to the principle of maintaining relative stability and gradual development based on the currently evaluated specialties, with mature disciplines that have become independent departments being progressively incorporated in the future.
