VCBeat has learned that, following its Series D financing round earlier this year, Medbanks Group has recently completed a Series D+ round, raising approximately RMB 1 billion. This round was again led by Tencent, with Shuanghu Capital as a co-investor. Existing investors, including Fidelity International’s SDIC Capital and F-Prime Capital, CEC-CICC, and IDG Capital, also significantly increased their investments.

Medbanks Group has grown into a leading professional medical and healthcare integrated service platform in the fields of clinical oncology and critical illnesses in China over the past five years. It has successively established a national clinical oncology healthcare network covering all tumor types and composed of 3,000 experts, a specialty drug service network covering 649 county-level (and above) regions across China, and a professional clinical medicine and healthcare network.

Zhang Yan, CEO of Shuanghu Capital, stated, “Investing in the healthcare sector requires long-term patience and sustained commitment, which aligns precisely with the characteristics of Shuanghu Capital’s evergreen fund. We remain bullish on the socialization reforms of China’s healthcare security system, highly recognize the industry expertise and global perspective accumulated by the Medbanks team, and are committed to supporting Medbanks’ continuous innovation and exploration in the healthcare services sector.”

Currently, Medbanks Group has established three business headquarters in Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, with its business network covering all 30 provinces across China. The Clinical Trials Business Group under Medbanks has emerged as a leader in the field of oncology new drug clinical trials, earning widespread recognition from major multinational pharmaceutical companies, large domestic pharmaceutical firms, and emerging biotechnology enterprises, as well as high acclaim from hospital clinical sites and medical experts.

Medbanks’ Specialty Drug Services Business Group operates over 70 self-owned and self-built professional specialty pharmacies nationwide. Each pharmacy is staffed by three professional pharmacists on average and supported by an independent follow-up team, delivering consistent, high-quality specialty and oncology medication services across China. This has made it the preferred professional service platform for leading pharmaceutical companies launching new specialty drugs.

Medbanks’ Health Insurance Business Group, after helping Taikang Insurance launch China’s first “Specialty Drug Insurance” in 2018, has collaborated with multiple domestic insurance companies to sequentially introduce innovative health insurance products such as “Efficacy Insurance,” “Recurrence Insurance,” and “Nodule Insurance.” Leveraging the group’s nationwide network of experts and specialty drugs, it provides fast, reliable, and professional whole-course-of-care services to health insurance customers.

Meanwhile, leveraging the multi-layered data and entity network established through its first three business segments, Medbanks has collaborated with multiple pharmaceutical companies to conduct extensive real-world evidence (RWE) studies. These initiatives innovatively support pharmaceutical companies in achieving regulatory approval for new drugs without traditional clinical trials and in expanding drug indications. Additionally, Medbanks assists experts in establishing multiple research cohorts and publishing numerous academic articles.

Currently, Medbanks Group has built an efficient value-based healthcare platform for oncology and critical illnesses, grounded in a three-tier network of “healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and data” and driven by multiple core businesses. Looking ahead, Medbanks Group will continue to “do what benefits doctors and patients,” working alongside all diligent and professional partners to ensure that cancer and critical illnesses no longer hinder life.
