On November 19, 2019, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that healthcare company Axia Women’s Health (Axia) announced the acquisition of women’s health provider Obstetrics & Gynecology of Indiana (OB/GYN of Indiana). No financial terms of the acquisition were disclosed.

Obstetrics & Gynecology of Indiana, established in 1993 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, is a healthcare provider specializing in women's health. The company operates nine branch locations and five affiliated hospitals across Indiana, with a team of over 40 senior practicing physicians. Obstetrics & Gynecology of Indiana is committed to enhancing the obstetric and gynecologic care system in central Indiana and evolving into a leading comprehensive women's healthcare service provider.

Axia, established in 1999 and headquartered in New Jersey, USA, is a healthcare company dedicated to improving women’s health outcomes and enhancing patients’ quality of life. With nearly 300 medical service facilities and over 100 women’s health centers across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Axia strives to safeguard the health of women throughout the United States.

Axia is a compassionate and forward-thinking professional healthcare company dedicated to providing women patients with accessible, high-quality, specialized, and personalized care services. Its medical facilities include Breast Health Centers, High-Risk Pregnancy Centers, laboratories, Urogynecology, and Fertility Centers, all driven by the mission of helping women lead healthier and happier lives.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines state that females should begin prioritizing gynecological screening between the ages of 13 and 15. Starting at age 21, women should undergo annual examinations with a focus on breast and pelvic health. Furthermore, women who become sexually active before the age of 21 should initiate annual examinations earlier and receive evidence-based contraceptive counseling.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. Studies have shown that ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths and predominantly affects women aged 35 to 74. Among cancers of the female reproductive system, ovarian cancer causes the highest number of deaths annually, with approximately 1 in 78 women developing the disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) projected that in 2019, more than 268,000 women in the U.S. would be diagnosed with breast cancer.

OB/GYN of Indiana and Axia share a common vision to improve women-centered medical care and health services. Following the completion of this acquisition, OB/GYN of Indiana will continue to provide services to patients as a physician-led organization, with no disruption to patients’ scheduling of medical care. Furthermore, all nine treatment locations in central Indiana will remain unchanged, allowing patients to continue receiving care from their primary physicians. This transaction marks Axia’s eighth acquisition in the healthcare sector and represents a significant step toward its goal of building a national women’s health platform.
