Exactech Acquires Italian Distributor to Strengthen Global Sales of Orthopedic Devices

VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned via Business Wire that on November 21, 2019, local time, orthopedic device giant Exactech announced the acquisition of its independent distribution partner, Exactech Italia SpA, thereby establishing a new subsidiary. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Exactech is headquartered in Gainesville, Florida. The company develops and markets orthopedic implant devices, related surgical instruments, biomaterials, and computer-assisted surgery technologies for hospitals and physicians. Many of the company’s orthopedic devices are manufactured at its Gainesville facility.

Exactech’s orthopedic products are used to repair bones and joints deteriorated due to injury or disease, such as arthritis. The company also offers biologics and spinal products for the healing and regeneration of bone and soft tissue. Exactech distributes allograft tissue implants for oral and dental applications and sells synthetic bone graft substitutes based on tricalcium phosphate or hydroxyapatite. Additionally, it provides Ossigen, a collagen-based 3D matrix combined with organic bone mineral, which can be processed into blocks for surgical implantation to repair bone defects in the spine, extremities, pelvis, and other areas.

Exactech Italia employs professional sales personnel who provide customers with a range of products through independent agencies across China.

The acquisition includes the full equity stake of Exactech’s importer and distributor of orthopedic implants, instruments, and advanced surgical technologies in the Brescia region. Through this acquisition, Exactech now holds direct operational rights in eight markets globally and distributes its products in more than 35 countries and regions.
