On November 22, 2019, the Dean’s Forum (5th Session) of “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” and the 2019 Summary Conference of “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” were held as scheduled during the Third Comprehensive Academic Annual Meeting of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
The forum primarily focused on commending outstanding organizations and distinguished individuals from the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” campaign, while also reviewing and summarizing insights gained from visits and exchanges with more than 200 rehabilitation institutions between 2017 and 2019, and providing an outlook on future trends.
Li Jian, Director of the External Liaison Department of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine; Cai Junyi, Executive Director and Secretary-General of the Management Committee of the Science and Technology Health Public Welfare Fund of the China Social Welfare Foundation; Huang Dongfeng, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation; Yu Hongliu, Director of the Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering and Technology at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology; Zheng Pengyuan, President of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University; Li Ke, Founder of the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” campaign; Guo Ganghua, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University; and Chen Jianping, Song Zhe, Wang Yu, and other invited accompanying experts of the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” attended this conference.
The forum consists of four agenda items.
Recognition Ceremony for the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” Campaign; Launch of the 2020 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” Campaign; Introduction to the “Warm Heart Project—Let Me Stand Up” Public Welfare Initiative; Summary Report of the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” Campaign and Sharing of Best Practices from Rehabilitation Institutions. Guest speeches and the award ceremony were held concurrently.

At the outset of the conference, Li Jian, Director of the External Liaison Department of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine (CARM), delivered a speech on behalf of CARM. He highly commended the achievements and contributions made by the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” initiative, expressed his hope that the experiences in rehabilitation institution construction and management shared at the Dean’s Forum would provide targeted solutions to development challenges, and affirmed that CARM, as the host organization of the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour,” would continue to offer strong support for the initiative in 2020. Subsequently, Director Li Jian announced the recipients of the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” Excellence Contribution Award.

Next, Cai Junyi, Executive Director and Secretary-General of the Management Committee of the Science and Technology Health Public Welfare Fund under the China Social Welfare Foundation, delivered a speech. Secretary-General Cai expressed heartfelt gratitude to caring enterprises and individuals from all sectors of society for their concern and support for the development of public welfare in China, and announced the winners of the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Cross-Country Journey” Public Welfare Ambassador Award and the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Cross-Country Journey” Public Welfare Organization Award.

Yu Hongliu, Director of the Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering and Technology at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, delivered a speech in which he affirmed and praised the format of the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” initiative. He announced that the Professional Committee on Rehabilitation Engineering and Industry Promotion of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine would join the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” as a technical support unit in 2020, thereby contributing to the development of rehabilitation services in China. Meanwhile, Professor Yu Hongliu presented the 2019 Technical Support Team Award for the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour.”

Subsequently, Huang Dongfeng, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation, delivered a speech. On behalf of the Organizing Committee of “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour,” Director Huang expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leaders, experts, rehabilitation institutions, media outlets, enterprises, and other stakeholders who participated in and supported the initiative. He then presented the awards for the “Best Supporting Organizations of the 2019 Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour.”

Subsequently, Chen Jianping, Song Zhe, and Wang Yu, the specially invited accompanying experts for “Rehabilitation China: A 10,000-Li Journey,” respectively presented the 2019 Rehabilitation China: A 10,000-Li Journey Outstanding Media Award and the 2019 Rehabilitation China: A 10,000-Li Journey Outstanding Individual Award.
Following the awards ceremony, Professor Huang Dongfeng announced the 2020 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” initiative. Professor Huang stated that the tour would launch in Guangzhou in March of the following year, with the Anhui leg commencing in April in collaboration with Anqing Bingfeng Rehabilitation Hospital in Anhui Province. The call for co-organizers for the period from May to October was officially opened at this time, with priority given to regions where activities had not yet been conducted, including Yunnan, Guizhou, Fujian, Hubei, Tianjin, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. Additionally, the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” Summary Conference is scheduled to be held again in Beijing in November 2020.
Subsequently, Cai Junyi, Executive Director and Secretary-General of the Management Committee of the Science and Technology Health Public Welfare Fund under the China Social Welfare Foundation, introduced the “Warm Heart Project—Let Me Stand Up” public welfare initiative. Secretary-General Cai specifically pointed out that starting in November 2019, the project would collaborate with 20–50 patient subsidy centers nationwide to benefit 1,000 individuals living in poverty, while also establishing five rehabilitation education and training bases.
Next, Li Ke, founder of the “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” and president of “Kangzhiliao University,” and Guo Ganghua, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, shared their experiences in rehabilitation institution management, delivering presentations titled “Summary of the 2019 Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour: Analysis of Key Success Factors for Rehabilitation Institutions” and “How to Continuously Enhance the Operational Efficiency of Rehabilitation Institutions,” respectively.

“Summary of the 2019 ‘Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour’ Activity: Analysis of Key Success Factors for Rehabilitation Institutions”
President Li Ke provided an in-depth analysis of successful models, technologies, talent development, and medical insurance coverage for rehabilitation institutions. Addressing the hotspots, challenges, and focal points in the sector’s growth, he summarized and shared the successful experiences gained from the three-year “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” through practical case studies. Furthermore, President Li announced that a “Rehabilitation Institution Operations and Management Summit” would be held monthly in 2020 to provide more comprehensive and detailed insights into successful development strategies, aiming to offer reference and inspiration for the current strategic transformation of rehabilitation institutions.

"How to Continuously Improve the Efficiency of Rehabilitation Institutions"
Director Guo Ganghua provided a detailed account of how the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University has leveraged rehabilitation to drive hospital-wide development, significantly enhancing both economic and social benefits. She elaborated on the hospital’s professional specialties, core technologies, and rehabilitation system. Furthermore, Director Guo stated that the establishment of the “Top 100 Rehabilitation Center Alliance” would promote the collaborative development of grassroots rehabilitation services, making a due contribution to the Healthy China initiative.
The invaluable insights shared by the two experts earned rounds of applause from the rehabilitation professionals in attendance, bringing the 2019 “Rehabilitation China Nationwide Tour” to a successful conclusion.
