VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that on November 26, 2019, local time, the Indian herbal beauty brand Just Herbs secured $1.5 million (approximately ₹107.2 billion) in Series A financing. The round was led by Mumbai-based Roots Ventures.

Just Herbs stated in a release that some family offices, high-net-worth individuals and corporate executives participated in this funding round. In addition, Gurugram-headquartered investment firm Client Associates also took part in the round.

Just Herbs, established in 2002, is an Indian herbal cosmetics company. Adhering to the principles of Ayurveda, Just Herbs formulates its customized skincare products using certified organic and wild-crafted herbs, such as apricot, neem, honey, and calendula. The brand is committed to providing customers with purely natural yet highly effective skincare solutions.

Just Herbs will use the funds from this round of financing to advance the research and development of natural beauty products, expand product distribution channels, and acquire new customers. Just Herbs currently offers more than 70 products to its customers, including shampoos, body washes, skincare products, and cosmetics. The company collects customer feedback through social media and uses it to improve new products.

Japan Vyas, founder of Roots Ventures, stated, “Conscious consumption is a significant theme in the beauty sector. Just Herbs focuses on product quality and customer engagement, believing that it can become a leader in the beauty industry.”

In recent months, as the consumer market for beauty products with natural ingredients has expanded, investors have shown increasing interest in companies offering such products. For example, this June, Risers accelerator invested 10 million Indian rupees (approximately $144,000) in Cosmeto Food Organic Pvt., an Indian manufacturer of herbal and organic skincare products. The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group acquired a majority stake in an Indian herbal skincare company for 321.7 million Indian rupees (approximately $4.6 million). Last September, a private debt fund under UTI Capital Pvt. Ltd. invested 500 million Indian rupees in Maharishi Ayurveda Products Pvt. Ltd., which operates two factories in Noida and Faridabad producing a range of Ayurvedic products.
