VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that on December 2, 2019, Centene (NYSE: CNC) and CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) jointly announced that CVS Health would acquire IlliniCare Health Plan (IlliniCare), Centene’s subsidiary in Illinois, USA. The transaction involves the sale of Centene’s Medicaid and Medicare Advantage business lines in Illinois.
Centene will retain IlliniCare’s Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) business and IlliniCare’s statewide YouthCare foster care services contract. Additionally, Centene’s Ambetter business in Illinois remains unaffected. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on CVS Health’s earnings.
