Beijing Yuanji Huayi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yuanji Huayi”), founded by Professor Rao Yi, President of Capital Medical University, has recently completed its Series A financing round. The round was led by China Renaissance Group and Tencent. According to reports, Yuanji Huayi will focus on the research, development, and incubation of new drugs and novel technologies in the field of neuroscience.
On the Venture Capital Intelligence section of the PharmaCube official website, it can be seen that “Yuanji Huayi,” an emerging player under the “Innovative Drugs” tag, is operating in a market environment with promising prospects. “In fact, it is not only Rao Yi; previously, many scientists engaged in basic research have also transitioned from laboratories to industry, joining the wave of new drug development.”
According to public information, Yuanji Huayi was established in 2018. It is a new drug incubation and R&D platform dedicated to supporting the entire process of original neurological drugs—from laboratory research, preclinical studies, and clinical process design to clinical trials—with the goal of building a world-class innovative enterprise in neurology.
An analysis of China Renaissance’s recent portfolio reveals that domestically developed innovative drugs have become one of its key focus areas. The firm has invested in multiple biopharmaceutical companies, including WuXi AppTec, MicroPort Scientific Corporation, and Shanghai MicroPort Endovascular MedTech (HeartCare). Meanwhile, China Renaissance has participated in supporting private equity financing for numerous biomedical companies, establishing itself as a leading financial advisor in China’s biomedical sector. Notably, according to data from Qichacha, China Renaissance not only participated in Yuanji Huayi’s Series A financing round but had already placed its bets on the company during its angel round.
With capital support, Yuanji Huayi’s unique advantages in the medical field will become even more prominent. The participation of strong players such as China Renaissance will inject new vitality into the company’s development, empower it to achieve leapfrog growth, secure a competitive edge in the market, and provide sustained momentum for China to remain at the forefront of innovative drug development.
