GSK's Triple Combination Inhaler Trelegy Ellipta Approved in China for Asthma Maintenance Therapy, Generating Over $3 Billion in Annual Sales

On January 23, GSK announced that the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)Approved Trelegy^®(Fluticasone Furoate/Umeclidinium/Vilanterol Inhalation Powder, FF/UMEC/VI)New Indications Added,For the maintenance treatment of adult asthma patients。

The approval of this new indication is for the productPre-existing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease（COPD）The expansion of indications has also made flutimive inhalation powder becomeChina's first and only triple therapy with a single inhaler device for maintenance treatment of both asthma and COPD（SITT）。

This approval is mainly based on GSK's CAPTAIN clinical study. The study showed that, for inhaled corticosteroids/long-acting β₂ Receptor Agonist（ICS/LABA）Patients with poor control, compared with dual therapy FF/VI,UseFF/UMEC/VI Provides Significant Improvement in Lung Function with Additional Bronchodilation。

Flutiform Inhalation Powder is aOnce daily, administered by a single inhalation.A triple therapy with a single inhalation device. It contains three components: inhaled corticosteroids（ICS）Fluticasone Furoate（FF）、Long-acting anticholinergic drugs（LAMA）Umeclidinium Bromide（UMEC）, and long-acting β₂ Receptor Agonist（LABA）Vilanterol Trifenatate（VI）, through GSK's unique Ellipta^® Administration via dry powder inhaler.

Flutimilate inhalation powder has been launched in multiple countries and regions, including China, the United States, Europe, and Japan. The specifications approved in China include: 100/62.5/25 μg.(For asthma and COPD indications), and 200/62.5/25 μg(Applicable to asthma indications)。

Since its launch, the product's sales have skyrocketed, reaching$3.452 billion, the first three quarters of 2025 are$29.42 billion。
