VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that on December 9, 2019, local time, Acorn Health, a leading U.S. provider of applied behavior analysis therapy, announced the acquisition of Behavior Therapy Specialists (BTS), based in O'Fallon, Illinois. Specific financial details were not disclosed.

BTS, established in 2013, has been providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services to multiple counties in Southern Illinois for many years. Following this acquisition, BTS will operate as a regional service platform under Acorn Health, continuing to deliver high-quality home- and center-based ABA therapy services to children and adults diagnosed with autism in Southern Illinois and Northern Missouri.

Through this acquisition, Acorn Health has expanded its operations to Michigan, Florida, Virginia, and Illinois. Moving forward, Acorn Health will continue to seek opportunities to partner with high-quality provider groups in its existing markets and adjacent new markets.

Acorn Health is a nationwide provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services, specializing in ABA treatment for children with autism. The company has branches in Michigan, Virginia, Florida, and now Illinois.

Currently, autism is recognized by the medical community as the fastest-growing developmental disorder. Identifying the risk of autism in children before the age of two can enhance the likelihood of early intervention. Research indicates that early intervention programs are beneficial for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), often improving their developmental functioning and reducing the severity of maladaptive behaviors and symptoms. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is one of the most widely accepted behavioral therapies for children with autism. At Acorn Health, clinicians work closely with each family to help their children discover their strengths and lead independent, meaningful lives.

Vicki Kroviak, CEO of Acorn Health, stated, “We are delighted that BTS has joined Acorn Health, under the leadership of Dr. Jenna Kokoski and Dr. Jessica Dow. As our partners, Jenna and Jessica, along with their clinical team, will help us enhance our capacity to deliver high-quality ABA services to families in need across Southern Illinois.”

Krista Boe, Chief Clinical Officer at Acorn Health, stated, “We are excited to expand our ABA services through our partnership with BTS, whose clinical team has served clients in the region for many years. Acorn Health looks forward to collaborating with them to provide more treatment options for local families in Illinois.”
