Provider of AI-Driven Decision Support Platforms
VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that on December 18, 2019, local time, TrialJectory, an AI-driven technology platform, announced the completion of a $2.7 million seed funding round led by Contour Venture Partners. The platform matches cancer patients with relevant clinical trials using its own curated clinical data, aiming to remove barriers for patients in accessing advanced treatments. The raised funds will accelerate the development of the TrialJectory platform, including adding more clinical trials for various cancer types and expanding the company’s services within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and patient communities. To date, TrialJectory has matched thousands of patients with clinical trial enrollments and continues to add new studies to the platform on a weekly basis.
“Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Americans, with tens of thousands of new cases diagnosed each year. Therefore, access to advanced treatment options is a necessity for patients, not a privilege for the few. The new trials on the TrialJectory platform offer patients better outcome options,” said Tzvia Bader, CEO and co-founder of TrialJectory. “More importantly, one of the biggest obstacles oncologists currently face is patients’ lack of access to clinical trials, which is caused by the sheer number of treatment options within the healthcare industry itself. Furthermore, with the rise of personalized medicine, matching the right treatment to the right patient will be a highly complex process.”
The TrialJectory platform currently supports trials related to breast cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, melanoma, and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS, commonly known as pre-leukemia). The platform operates by mimicking the clinical reasoning of oncologists, reading all unstructured treatment descriptions, and extracting patient-relevant data. The database created by TrialJectory standardizes and categorizes this information, thereby highlighting patient attributes that are attractive for clinical trials. Subsequently, the platform matches patients with clinical trials through dynamic questionnaire responses and shares this information with oncologists to facilitate screening and advance relevant clinical trials where appropriate.
