As a key driver of the new wave of technological and industrial revolutions, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies with various industries is deepening, profoundly transforming societal modes of production. To promote the effective combination of AI technologies and industrial applications in China and foster coordinated development in this field, E Fund Management Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary, E Fund Asset Management, will host the AI Industry Investment Summit under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization. The summit, themed “Focusing on the Frontiers of AI Technology, Leading the Future Development of the Intelligent Industry,” will be held at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai from January 8 to 9. This event will facilitate in-depth exchanges among representatives from academia, industry, research institutions, government, and the investment community on the latest academic advancements, industrial development trends, and key investment opportunities in AI.
The summit features a one-day main forum, followed by five thematic parallel forums held the next day. The main forum will include keynote addresses and sharing of the latest insights by three leading Chinese scholars: Mao Junfa, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Zhou Zhihua, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Nanjing University; and Wang Feiyue, Director of the State Key Laboratory for Management and Control of Complex Systems at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Additionally, experts from the investment and industrial sectors will participate in roundtable discussions on five themes: AI+Manufacturing, AI+Finance, AI+Healthcare, AI+Vision, and AI+Blockchain. The parallel forums on the following day will conduct more in-depth explorations of these five themes respectively.
Manufacturing, finance, healthcare, computer vision, and blockchain are currently the five most prominent application areas in the field of artificial intelligence. Among these, machine vision is one of the earliest-developed and most technologically mature sectors in this AI wave, now converging with new demands driven by emerging scenarios such as 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). The financial sector, which involves massive amounts of data, is rapidly fostering numerous emerging models and business formats under the impetus of AI. The healthcare sector boasts widely recognized, vast prospects for AI applications, yet it also faces many unresolved issues related to regulation and business models due to its industry-specific characteristics. Blockchain has evolved from controversy to consensus and remains one of the hottest technologies today. Meanwhile, AI-enabled smart manufacturing has long been elevated to the level of national strategy.
By focusing on these five key areas, this summit aims to address the current stage-specific characteristics of AI applications in China and create a high-quality platform that closely integrates scientific research, deeply engages with industry, and leverages capital resources. The goal is to promote the coordinated “triune” development of China’s AI sector—spanning academic research, investment support, and industrial implementation—and contribute to establishing China’s first-mover advantage in this field.
As the host, E Fund Management Co., Ltd. is a leading fund manager in China, and E Fund Asset Management Co., Ltd. is its wholly-owned subsidiary specializing in alternative asset management businesses such as equity investment.
