"Beinao No.1" Completes First Wireless Fully Implanted Human Trials and Is Selected as One of China's Top 10 Scientific Advances of 2025

On January 26, the top ten scientific and technological advances in China and the world for 2025, voted by academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were announced. Among them, the Beijing Institute of Brain Science and Intelligence Technology, a new R&D institution in Beijing, and NEUCYBER, a company it led in establishing, jointly developed"NEUCYBER One" Completes the First Batch of Wireless Full-body Implants, and This Achievement is Selected as One of the Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progress News in China for 2025.

The two intelligent brain-computer systems, the semi-invasive "Beijing Brain One" and the invasive "Beijing Brain Two," developed by the Beijing Institute of Brain Science and NEUCYBER, have both reached world-leading levels today. Currently, the "Beijing Brain One" has completed the world's first human implantation of a flexible, high-throughput, semi-invasive, fully wireless brain-computer system. Post-surgery, the patient has recovered well, with the effective channel count of the device reaching over 98%.By using "NEUCYBER One," paralyzed patients are able to control computers and robotic arms remotely, and even drive muscle stimulation devices to promote the gradual recovery of their limb motor functions. "NEUCYBER One" has also become the world's first wireless, fully implantable brain-computer system to achieve language decoding for aphasic patients, helping them rebuild communication abilities.

In addition, China's "artificial sun" EAST set a world record of "100 million degrees for a thousand seconds," DeepSeek introduced an alternative path for Chinese AI, and the unveiling of the superconducting quantum computing prototype "Zu Chongzhi III" were selected as part of the top ten scientific and technological advances in China for 2025. The birth of the "electron-photon-quantum" integrated chip system, the creation of the first visible "time crystal," and the record-breaking survival time for genetically modified pig organ transplants were selected as part of the top ten scientific and technological advances in the world for 2025.
