During the more than one month of being confined to their homes by the novel coronavirus, people were subjected to a relentless barrage of massive amounts of information. During this period, VCBeat planned multiple related topics centered on nationwide epidemic prevention, aiming to provide readers with necessary and objective information.

Starting February 11, VCBeat resumed its VB Group Interviews, inviting industry leaders to share their insights online and engage in real-time interactions with readers, discussing the healthcare industry amid the impact of the pandemic. On the 21st, the VB Roundtable was launched, covering topics ranging from internet healthcare to digital pharmaceutical marketing, where we invited corporate executives and investors to discuss industry hotspots.

Six group interviews, two roundtable discussions, 14 industry guests, 18 internal communication groups, nearly 5,000 real-time industry viewers, and over 20,000 views. Covering three major sectors—biopharmaceuticals, internet healthcare, and medical devices—we explored core topics such as industrial ecosystem, investment logic, corporate operations, healthcare workforce, and trend-driven transformations... We strive to work with everyone to clarify the development trajectory of the healthcare industry and illuminate every step forward with insight.

Therefore, we have begun to focus on the most promising areas of innovation within the healthcare industry. What stage of development are these sectors in? What is their market potential? Who are the representative companies, and what are their business models? On a weekly basis, we aim to provide a systematic understanding of these niche innovative fields through rigorous industry reports and complementary industry events, thereby offering comprehensive industry insights to participants in the sector.

We conducted a survey ofOver 10 Imaging FFR Companies, analyzedOver 2,000 industry data sets, attempting toDimensions such as policy, technology, market, capital, and typical casesComprehensive Analysis of the Image-Based FFR Industry, FormingChina's First and Most In-Depth, Comprehensive"Report on Innovation in the Imaging FFR Industry". China's First "Innovation Report on the Imaging FFR Industry"

The “Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China 2018,” released by the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, shows that the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in China has continued to rise in recent years, with the number of affected individuals reaching 290 million in 2018, and mortality from these conditions remaining the leading cause of death. Among them,The number of patients with coronary heart disease reaches 11 million., and as a high-incidence condition among cardiovascular diseases, coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with its treatment receiving increasing attention.

FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve)As a novel diagnostic approach, it enables physiological assessment of whether coronary artery stenosis causes myocardial ischemia, thereby assisting physicians in diagnosis, reducing unnecessary coronary angiography, and lowering healthcare costs.

Imaging-based FFR, as a typical representative of non-invasive FFR, has begun to be applied in the clinical diagnosis of coronary artery disease. On January 15, 2020, the imaging-based FFR system “DeepVessel FFR®” successfully obtained registration approval, becoming the first AI-powered Class III medical device certified in China.

For the image-based FFR industry, we have the following key viewpoints:

  • The potential size of China’s imaging-based FFR market is expected to reach RMB 1.5 billion in 2025.

  • Policies are accelerating product certification and approval; it is expected that within two years after 2020, 3–5 companies will obtain Class III registration certificates from the NMPA for their imaging-based FFR products.

  • There are three typical business models for imaging-based FFR: the in-hospital independent model, the in-hospital collaborative model, and the third-party imaging FFR testing center model.

  • In 2019, the number of patents in the field of image-based FFR in China was basically on par with the total number abroad.

  • The launch of imaging-based FFR products will significantly increase the adoption rate of FFR testing in China.

  • The five leading authors of industry papers, represented by Jonathan Leipsic of Canada, have made significant contributions to the development of the industry.

  • Pulse Medical, Keya Medical, Runxin Medical, Philips, PulseFlow Technology, and Heartflow have registered the most imaging-based FFR-related patents in China.

Supporting Industry Activities

  • This Wednesday (March 4) at 20:00, the VB Group Interview and the Online Launch of the "Innovation Report on the Image-based FFR Industry".

The report authors will provide a detailed interpretation of the first research report in the FFR field from five major dimensions: policy, technology, market, capital, and typical cases.

  • This Thursday (March 5) at 19:30, VB Roundtable: Imaging FFR Special Topic.

VCBeat was also honored to invite representatives from leading companies in the FFR field, with plans to inviteLiu Bing, CEO of Bodong MedicalXiang Jianping, CEO of Maiflow TechnologyandLi Zhenming, Partner at Boying Capital and Senior Investor, attended and participated to jointly discuss key topics such as the business model, value trends, and investment logic of imaging-based FFR.
