Before joining Alibaba, Zhu Shunyan founded Wuhan Xuncai Technology in 2003 and joined the UC Browser founding team in 2007, where he served as Senior Vice President responsible for market promotion and the establishment of UC Browser’s commercialization system.

In June 2014, Alibaba Group acquired the UC Browser business, and Zhu Shunyan was reassigned as President of Alimama (Alibaba Group’s big data marketing platform). Subsequently, in 2017, Zhu Shunyan assumed the role of President of UC Browser.

Since December 2018, Zhu Shunyan has served as President of New Media Business under Alibaba Group’s Digital Media and Entertainment Group, overseeing the UC Browser business unit, AliMusic, and innovative ventures. In June 2019, he additionally assumed the role of President of the Innovative Business Group.

AliHealth’s announcement stated that with the accelerated development of capabilities in big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT), digital health will become a new type of infrastructure in the healthcare sector. In the ongoing efforts to combat the epidemic and resume work and production, internet technology-driven medical and health services have emerged as a vital force. This means that AliHealth must continue to accelerate its pace of innovation.

Zhu Shunyan also serves as President of Alibaba Group’s Innovation Business Group, bringing extensive experience in leading innovative ventures. This will infuse AliHealth’s next phase of development with greater innovative thinking and provide stronger organizational support.

Over the past month, AliHealth has launched multiple initiatives to combat the epidemic. On the evening of January 24, AliHealth successively introduced free online consultation services with internet-based physicians on the Alipay and Taobao apps, alleviating pressure on frontline outpatient clinics. Within less than four days of launch, more than 1,000 doctors had provided services to residents of Hubei Province through AliHealth’s “Online Consultation” platform, and the number of visitors to the free clinic page exceeded 1.6 million. Recently, a dedicated online medical consultation section for overseas Chinese nationals has been opened, and nearly 100 Chinese embassies and consulates abroad have recommended this service.

For patients with chronic diseases who face difficulties in seeking medical care outside their homes, AliHealth launched the “Medicine Without Leaving Home” service on the Taobao app on February 6, introducing a new healthcare model featuring online consultations, e-prescribing, and home delivery of medications. Subsequently, AliHealth collaborated with over 50 leading global pharmaceutical companies to ensure supply, mobilized merchants nationwide to source scarce medicines around the clock, and established dedicated logistics channels for medication delivery. These efforts enabled the delivery of life-saving drugs to 13 million chronic disease patients in Hubei Province. In addition, AliHealth partnered with Tmall to launch the “Confident Medicine Purchase” initiative, facilitating the purchase of prescription drugs by chronic disease patients across China. In ten major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, medications can be delivered in as fast as 30 minutes.

This also demonstrates that by leveraging the technological and ecosystem advantages of the Alibaba platform, AliHealth can rapidly incubate innovations and continuously expand its growth potential in areas such as new retail pharmaceuticals, chronic disease management, internet healthcare, and digital public health service solutions.
