图片Abstract:Recently, the ranking of vaccine manufacturers released by ZoomRx showed that Pfizer once again topped the list.Merck、ModernaFollowing closely behind. Sanofi's ranking dropped to seventh due to the impact of new immunization regulations by the US CDC, and it was warned to take urgent action; its CEO also revealed the response strategy.

Vaccine Manufacturer Rankings: Pfizer Reclaims Top Spot, Slight Shift in Upper Tier

If there's one hot topic in the vaccine industry right now, this newly released ranking by ZoomRx definitely qualifies. The survey gathered 58 U.S. healthcare professionals who scored 14 vaccine manufacturers across five dimensions, including innovation and patient-centricity, out of a possible 100 points.
The results were unsurprising. Pfizer took the top spot again, just like in the 2024 survey. It scored 83 points this time, with healthcare professionals particularly recognizing its innovation capabilities and sales execution, calling it reliable. Merck followed closely behind, ranking second with 48 points, thanks to its consistent quality and support for healthcare workers. Moderna secured third place with 37 points, leveraging its reputation for innovation built during the pandemic. GSK remained in fourth place with 34 points, a familiar position indeed.
However, there are also new changes in the top five. AstraZeneca has entered the top five for the first time, pushing Sanofi, which was originally in fifth place, out of the ranking. It is said that AstraZeneca won trust by maintaining good relationships with medical staff, being available whenever needed, and consistently providing support.

Sanofi in Crisis: Ranking Drops and Policy Missteps

Sanofi is having a tough time this time, dropping directly from fifth to seventh, behind Johnson & Johnson. ZoomRx has already sounded the alarm, calling it a "red alert" status.
Why so nervous? Mainly because the U.S. CDC changed the children's immunization schedule, cutting 6 of the originally 17 automatically recommended vaccines for children. Now, parents must consult with a specialist before getting them administered. With this change, the reputation of manufacturers and recommendations from healthcare workers become crucial. Without the "policy protection," sales can be easily affected.
Sanofi's flu vaccine and meningitis vaccine were precisely on the list of cuts. Insiders are concerned that if Sanofi doesn't quickly mend its relationship with healthcare professionals, it could face not only a decline in reputation but also a potential collapse in sales.

Sanofi's Response: Let Evidence Speak, Focus on the Long Term

Faced with this dilemma, Sanofi CEO Paul Hudson has recently also made a statement. At the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference earlier this month, he said that objectivity must be maintained now, and the evidence needs to be presented.
He revealed that the company intends to provide patients and parents with the most practical advice. Although the current vaccine coverage remains uncertain, they will plan for the long term. However, whether this approach will be effective still depends on subsequent actions, as the current situation cannot wait.
